    Hi to all,

After a couple months of carefree driving with the 360, I have started having some Slow Down problems...

It started 2 weeks ago when on a very hot day (>100 degrees F) it went on once or twice for a couple of seconds... I didn't pay much attention and last week again it went on a little longer. I switched engine off. Tried again and it was on. I wasn't on all of the time.
It just flickered and went off.

I visited the dealer and asked him to check with the diagnostic.

Reading on this forum I hoped it was a thermocouple cable insulation or a sensor that was bad. The dealer asked me again if I was using V-power racing (100 octane) gasoline , which I was, and told me never to use again, because it is expensive and nobody uses it. It just stays for long time in the fuel station tanks and evaporates, deteriorates, gets oxidised, etc etc and is bad for the engine. He told me to just use regular 95 octane gas, as the manufacturer suggests.

He hooked up the diagnostics and found overheating in the right catalytic convertor.
He didn't suggest anything about it.

Now I get a flicker of Slow Down every time I take my car for a spin.
It cuts power on one cylinder bank and it is annoying.

    Any suggestions ?

    Thanks !

I think the SD light comes on when the thermocouples sense something like 1700 F, which iis far hotter than they get during normal operation (which is like 400-600 i think), so the ambient temp probably has litle to do with this. Either there is blockage which is probably unlikely since the car would run much worse I would think OR there is a wiring issue (like you mention) OR the cat ECU for that engine bank is dying. There are threads about these ECUs being unreliable. You should do a search.

100 octane will bring no more power to the game than 93 octane.
If you burn a tank of gasoline per month it really does not mater how quickly it deteriorates.
Now if your fuel station gets one storage tank fillup very 6 months and then it sits for this long, it will deteriorate, separate, and could do things your dealer describes.

Any chance he is on the warrentee hook for the cat?

Tell the dealer to fix the problem, or at least make the problem "go away". You might want to be ready to pay for a cat (or two).

Thank you FTA and Mitch for your help !

It helped me refine my search and came up with the following thread :

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204156

I will be "removing and reseating the ground points" as suggested on the thread.

My guess is that there is no blockage (engine works smoothly and pulls hard) , the insulation of the wires is not an issue (light would be on all the time) and lets hope it is just the ground points...

    I will keep everyone posted...
