I started getting a Slow Down warning a couple of weeks ago. It's been happening sporatically. After reading several threads I decided to seal the Cat ECU's with silicone as they did show signs of cracks at the green epoxy joint. All was well for a week without anymore warnings until today. The warning flashes 4-5 times and then pauses, then flashes again. Does this indicate that it's the ECU on the 1-4 side of the engine or is the # of flashes meaningless? How could I tell which ECU is defective or is it one of the temp. sensors in one of the CAT's. After the warning comes on i immediately stop the car and check the CATS and no glowing red, so I'm assuming the problem is electrical. I also read somewhere that if there was a reall CAT temp. issue the warning would be on steadily. Seeing that my clutch is finished, would that have anything to do with the Slow Down warning coming on? Again, I read on one thread that a burnt clutch can bring on this warning, but it sounds odd to me. I would appreciate any input on this issue. Thanks.

The only real way of knowing what's going on there is to get someone to hook your car up to an SD2/3 and see what is happening, although i've occasionaly found that disconnecting the cat e.c.u and cleaning out the plugs has resolved the problem, however i've also changed quite a few due to failure. Get it to a dealer or specialist would be my advise....

Believe it or not, it seems that the slow down warning in my case has to do with the micro switches or the oil level pertaining to the convertible top. I did notice that after receiving the warning and I happened to manipulate the top, the warning would go away. This exact thing happened to me at the dealer in front of the service manager, the slow down warning came on just as I closed the top. So it's in their hands now and hope for a easy solution. Thanks for the advice as always!
