Okay, so what exactly does this "gadget" do? Does it make a different ground path? When I had my passenger doors off to swap them, I spent a lot of time rewinding cables, greasing the gears. The problem that I seen is that the ground wire goes into the door, in which it can only ground through the rusty greasy door hinges. I really think if you put a bonding strap from the door to the chassis a lot of the trouble will go away. The passenger door either woulnt move at all, or very slowly and then stop. Now it goes up pretty good. But the only real thing I did was knock the hinges apart. That probably made a better ground.

If this thing didn't work then forum would know about it. There seem to be some limitations to where this device will help and these are well documented.

To a neutral observer you come across as somebody all bent out of shape because some guy (but not you) has a good idea and has "the bare faced cheek" to engage in some free market enterprise to fulfill a bit of supply & demand.

I think this guy should be applauded. Many of the people on here who own F cars do so through hard work and enterprise, I know that's how I got mine.

If you don't trust the gadget don't buy it. I notice from your profile that you are an electrical engineering consultant, so instead of wasting your energy here why don't you come up with your own device, then (taking your own consutancy advice in your post above) front-up the $5k for the patent searches and if it's accepted the other $15k to get the patent fully awarded and then come back here so that some ding-dong can give you performance feedback on your work.

Let us all know when you come up with that $1m idea buddy. Can't wait to see it.

Changeover contact relays make it possible to switch the load current from one
contact to another. Two changeover contact relays can be used to realize an
H-bridge to change the direction of rotation of a motor, which is required for lifting
and lowering windows, for example. The changeover contact relay contains the
two functions make-contact relay and break-contact relay in one unit, and can
therefore also be wired as a simple make-contact or break-contact relay.

Patents take time and money...this is a low volume item for a very small and specialized market....Ferrari takes little interest in parts for any car that is currently out of production.....why would they worry about a solution for cars out of production for 12 or more years?! They certainly don't seem overly concerned with exhaust manifold issues in the 355, which went out of production only 7 years ago, and is MUCH more costly and annoying than slow windows.

Amen. Am sure they are glad the 7 year emission warranty is over. BTW, how much is FNA asking to replace those known defect parts that are simply small length metal tubes? Have heard even the aftermarket guys are making a tidy sum with alternatives at 'Ferrari' pricing.

Looks like some sort of power inverter/transformer/booster, I would wonder how many volts are going to the windows with it as it may damage the motor if too many volts are used, sure they will go faster but also burn out the motors.

My Bbs windows are very slow, seems Ferrari solved the slow window issue beginning with the 355 as they are normal speed.

whoa! stop! you've wandered beyond the field that is left of left field.

scan through the main thread to see what the box is doing:
    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106031

the short answer, though, is the box connects a new path to ground to the correct side of the window motor (depending on whether window is going up or down). This bypasses some current reducing connections and switches in the original ground path, and thus the motor gets more current....assuming the door ground through the hinge is good.

it's simple, elegant, and will always help. How much it helps depends on what the actual problem with the window is. The other thread describes how to test whether the box will make a significant difference.

if the problem is the ground side of the motor circuit - which changes depending on motor direction - you have three options:
1] go through all the relevant switches/connectors and make them like new
2] bung in one of frazer's boxes to bypass the problem
3] built the equivalent to #2 yourself

#2 is quickest/easiest, #3 is cheapest, and #1 takes longest and usually is least effective, unless you replace connector pins.
