I think I may have to pay a visit to Euro. I'm sure it's sold...though I could be wrong but I thought they were sold out from the beginning.

Actually the first car was on Long Island new york. It went up for auction and was won by a dealer here, Rallye motors for an ungodly sum. Its been on display there ever since and not sure if its for sale or not. Rallye owns several dealerships besides Mercedes-Benz

The SLR is no where near even being sold out....it's not even close.

They told me it wasn't sold and they are entertaining offers of 700k plus. Not a bad profit for a 465k car.

 

why is that? Maybe because it's not nearly in the same league as enzo or carrera gt. I don't think mb made that many...so tell me...how many did they make? Thats dumb...dealers should sell the car at msrp...and before you guys start flaming...i have my reasons.

I would think that manufacturers would make sure dealers didn't sell above list. I was surprised about the Ford GT $100k + ......someone else was talking about the new Vette premiums......... now $240k+ premium on the SLR. If this is true I think it shows how terrible dealer relationships are with their customers. If anything the manufacturers should raise their prices and gain some of the profits. I wonder how long it's going to be before manufacturers start selling direct.

i saw one on the road to mt evans in colorado last month... driving with a sl55 and a maybach..apparently company altitude testing... the nose is too long..looks like new slk in the front...i didnt like theinterior styling and it has an auto tranny....for 465 k you would have to be nuts... this car will depreciate over time... apparently mb is making quiet a few....i would be hard pressed to buy one for 200k..i would take a ferrari cs , or a gallardo or a used murci over it any day

 

They plan to build 3,500 units of this car.

If Porsche can't sell 1,500 CGT's......(only 1,000 are sold approximately).......and Ferrari recognized that the Enzo should only be under 400 units......were are they going to get 3,500 buyers for a $500K sports car that is butt ugly ?

Buy the CL65 for 1/3 the price.....it has the same performance and a better optical dynamic.

Car looks nice but don't look like a supercar, and no cross drill rotor / ceramic brakes?

 

I noticed that 2 and went to check it out, doesnt have em. its funny b/c the SL has em up front.

its got that wing that pops up under braking that probably helps alot, engine braking is probably ridiculous so it prob doesnt need em but it cant hurt to have em.

The car is a joke. Anyone who pays MSRP, let alone above it, is going to take it in the shorts.

Hell, used Maybachs don't even hit MSRP at auction.

 

very well said... these cars will depreciate like any other car.... in person the car looks cartoonish...i think mercedes was delusional with this car..a sl65 or sl65 are better choices for farless money for those who want the mb emblem on their hoods

 

I dont remember the actual month of the auction. But I believe it was back in early 04. winter months I think. It was bought at auction for somewhere close to if not actually 2 million. Insane.

 

Saw one up close in front of the Lodge @ Pebble Beach Concours week-end. There will be one coming soon to Stockton- own by the Spanos (SD Charger's owner). Heard from the sale rep, the car is changing 2nd hand for close to $1mil. Is that true?
