I thought the Enzo had the capability to raise its nose to make traveling over speed bumps and inclined entraceways easier?

The Enzo has a lift system that works under 15 MPH that can help get you over speed bumps and onto driveways. A very important dimension is the distance from the tip of the nose to the center of the front wheel the shorter coupled with curving up of the bottom makes a huge difference and makes a car much more drivable on the street. 60ies race cars had shorter front overhang and were curved up but this wasn't too efficient aerodynamically and required winglets "Canards" The Enzo is more modern in design which is better aerodynamically but harder to drive on the street. This was a big issue we addressed in P 4/5. We shortened front overhang, curved up, and used winglets. This is one reason P 4/5 is much more drivable on the street than an Enzo.

Compare the Noses and you'll see the difference. Note how long and flat front overhang is on FXX/Enzo vs P 3/4 vs P 4/5 which is inches shorter than the Enzo's front overhang and unlike the Enzo curves up.

On the track this isn't an issue but keep in mind as you reach 300KPH the downforce pushes the body towards the ground which can also become a clearance issue.

I see what you mean, it makes sense, the p4/5 is just a great car performance wise, style wise, and practicality wise, it is a killer car created originally by a great company and then made better by their consumer, it is fantasic.

I didnt really understand the guys question but now I got it

Jim, did you let Top Gear put test numbers down on your car? I thought you said you wouldn't let anyone actually run it through the normal series of benchmark automotive tests. And how current is that issue, and, more importantly, did they film it?

That came out last fall. It was filmed by French TV and Rene Arnoux who also tested it was interviewed by Top Gear as well. That track was only good for 200 mph but P 4/5 will top out at 233. It's top end is only higher than an Enzo's because it has a higher rear ratio due to taller tires. An Enzo will pull it's red line in top gear as well but due to lower gearing will "only' reach 225. 0-100 KPH P 4/5 is about 3.2 seconds which is a touch faster than a Enzo due to lower weight.

At speed down force lowers the car considerably. At speed a Veryon lowers to about 2.5 inches.

On the street rear overhang is also important. The shorter the more drivable.
The Veryon has very short front and rear overhang and doesn't need a lifting system to keep from scraping. If you look at off road vehicles you'll also see short over hangs as you will on WRC's. It's interesting to note that the 288 GTO was originally designed as a "Killer B" Rally car but was never raced. I'm not sure it's front overhang vs a 959 Porsche would have worked so well.

This is an issue with all Street Driven Supercars. A lifting system helps as does an angled aproach to driveways. Some have installed teflon nose tip skid plates which might help.

    Peter

How are the roads near you? Is this a big issue?
