I recently saw them on Guitar Center Sessions (great show!).

I found this episode to be particularly interesting. I don't recall ever hearing an interview with Billy Corgan. He is quite an interesting character. He truly takes his craft very seriously, yet seems to hate the fame associated with it. I agree with him in that he does create some very unique and original music, definitely standing out in comparison to any other band currently on the scene. I instantly recognize their unique sound when I hear a song of theirs that I am not familiar with.

I think some of their albums are incredible, perhaps ranking as some of the greats. Adore, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, and their newest Oceania is great as well. They are albums that I enjoy from beginning to end.

How do you rate his music, in comparison to today's current bands, as well as yesterday's legends? Is he as good as he thinks he is?

I watched that episode of GCS and enjoyed it. I like some of their song's yet would never see them in concert simply because they are not my "cup of tea". I like how you had the balls to ask "Is he as good as he thinks he is?" Kudos!

Most modern music (especially modern rock and pop) is over corrected, overhyped, overproduced, simplistic, uninspiring dross. IMHO, of course. I give him credit for trying to be different without becomming unlistenable. I like Oceania. It's a bit odd and interesting.
