I have now looked at about 100 pictures of 246's. Why are there sometimes/sometimes not: 1) prancing pony's on the front grill? 2) The lettered Ferrari logo on the back of the car to the left of the license plate? 3) The lettered Ferrari logo on the back of the car above the license plate? 4) The lettered Ferrari logo on the back of the car on the top/back/center of the rear lip of the car (above the license plate), where a spoiler would go? I don't know exactly what to call that spot... I was under the impression that a stock Dino 246GT didn't have the Ferrari Logo or name anywhere on the car except the door jamb serial # plate... -Matt
Matt, On a US 246 GT, you will read "vehicle manufactured by Ferrari" and see a cavallino on the door jamb build tag. You will also see "Ferrari" and the cavallino on the emissions info. contained on the lower surface of the left black tray under the engine lid louvers. Finally, you will see a small metal label on the frame under the right side of the engine lid which reads: "Ferrari. Il motore contiene Shell Super Motor Oil." Everything else is owner-added. Both my Dinos have small cavallini on the tail, to the left of the rear license plate, added by me. Some consider this an offense punishable by death or dismemberment. I have not added any Ferrari script, as the Dino is not technically a Ferrari. I do feel that they deserve the cavallino, however (just my opinion). Maranello Concessionaires, the British Ferrari distributor, routinely fit LARGE horse badges on Dino tails, along with Ferrari script and headlight covers. One of my cars has the headlight covers, and I think they add a lot to the Dino's voluptuous design. Fred
Ok. How's this for an off the topic question... Will a 246 fit on a normal residential garage car lift? I mean, are the tires a pretty standard width apart? Thanks. I'm trying to figure out how to fit an extra car or 2 in my garages. -Matt
