I folllowed a Cobra (surely a replicar) last Friday in North Houston, we both hit a right turn, with about a one mile straightaway two lane to the next light. I was right behind him when he made the turn, and I was ready for him when he took off.......

I caught tire going to second, ran the spider as fast as it can go, and he walked away from me like I was in a Yugo. He was actually at a complete stop at the light before I even saw him again.....

I have a Dinan 5, about 350 HP, that is fast as hell, but I have never in my life seen a street car that went as fast as this Cobra.

I'll bet he told the story about smoking a Ferrari a few times since....

I still wouldn't trade him pink sheets, but I have to admit it was pretty damned impressive.

It was on the Woodlands Parkway, going east from Kuykendahl......

Sounds like your Cobra is just as quick as this one, unbelievable. Insurance must be an absolute nightmare. I really like the exhaust note on the Cobra....

I used to have a friend in Pittsburgh that autocrossed his real 289 Cobra, back when I was into Fiats, in the eighties. They are awesome cars.....

348 is not a stoplight racer. Torque at high rpm and relatively slow shifter sort of puts the nail in the coffin unless you are prepared to rev to 4000 rpm and slip the clutch - I am not. American sports cars are really good at stop lights.

I always adopt the "After you Claude" attitude at the traffic lights. :)

My girls SUV will smoke a 360.....I don't even get around her with the 355.. The ferrari sounds better, but she wouldn't know because she has her onboard i-pod 11 speaker mega sound system on while she's leaving me in the dust....lol

Before picking up the 355 I was very tempted by my other dream car, a Cobra kit car. It is gorgeous and can be scary fast, they come in all flavors. Many are not that impressive, but most with a built V8 will smoke most anything out there. At the end of the day I opted for my dream Ferrari because it's a real car, not a kit. Also ergonomics in those things are terrible! You need to have tiny feet and a crooked spine to work those pedals...

When will u maniacs learn? A 348 is 15-year old tech, maybe. A Subaru can pants us. Any kit car is a potential platform for a killer road beast due to no weight and unlimited engine potential. Respect those things for what they are, but don't kid yourself by thinking u have an exotic with superior performance. I would like to see the difference, however, on a particularly curvey stretch of road or an autocross track where all that excess Hp don't count for squat.

If u want to stay in the game, get a 993TT or a 996TT and mod the ECU. With 700 HP on a street Cobrakit, it's hard to get the power on the road, but a TT's AWD sure helps.

There's a company in Australia making Cobra replicas with TT 427s in them. Robnell is the company IIRC. Traction, I suspect, is a problem.

My daily driver WRX quotes 0-60 in 5.6 secs which is give-or-take the same as the 348's. And this is the boggo stock WRX. An STI is in the high 4s. Add a few hundred bucks to rechip the WRX and I could potentially smoke an F355 in the dry. And we know who'll be faster in the rain.

    Bottom line is:
    1. I don't drag race (or do any other form of "racing") on street roads with any car (even a stock Civic could be a sleeper with NOS under the hood) - it's unsafe anyway
    2. I didn't buy the 348 for outright speed - the WRX may be just as fast, the STI faster still, but the experience of driving the 348 trumps just about anything else out there (including 911s - new or old - I should know, I used to own a 993) except perhaps for another Fcar or Lcar (I would like to add Pagani, McLaren, etc. but I just don't see myself getting to drive one in this lifetime!)

:) Same here, my STi is in the low 4's, that's my race car. In one autox event last season I had the highest speed in the long straight, pissed off the Z06 guys! The 355 is an entirely different toy...I tell others that sure the STi will win from 0-100, but from 100-185 the Ferrari wins!

Well this SUV will smoke the jeep.........with a chip, revised air intake, and new cats she is up to 550hp...normally aspirated....7spd paddle shifter, and suspension that will rival some of the best sports cars in the world.......the ML63 is bad to the bone and with speed limit removed she was pushing 170mph and there was more if the highway had permitted.

I have a TT vette with over 900 to the ground before n2o... looks stock with rims... I catch many racers sleeping on the street

I have seen the superformance cobras run in the 11's.... right out of the box.
