Hey all, What do you think is the smoothest driving car available in North America? One of those big Caddies? Something else? Cheers!
Maybach or Phantom would be my guess, though I don't have any seat time in either one. Thinking of transporting nitroglycerine or something? >8^) ER
That I have rode in or driven? Lincoln or mercury makes some very smooth riding comfy cars. I'd like an A6 for the family car though-more style luxury and better technology/engineering and performance than a lincoln or merc.
I have been in these sedans within the last year (in the backseat). I would rate them accordingly in terms of smoothness..IMO 1. '05 Lexus LS430 - can't even tell you're driving on the road. Feels like you're floating. Makes you even wonder if the car's on. Suspension has got to be pretty good on these Lexuses. Back seat seats are unreal. 2. '03 Mercedes S500 - smooth. Little engine noise. Very comfortable. 3. '04 Audi A8L - pretty smooth, though seemed to be a bit louder than the Merc in terms of cabin noise. 4. '03 BMW 745i - definitely the sportiest ride out of the bunch. That being said, we are talking about foreign boats here. Still pretty comfy ride. I'm sure RR, Flying Spur, Maybach are like butter as well, but they are a focused product. I have also been in a VW Phaeton (sp?) W12. If I remember correctly, I liked that interior better than the A8L. I know, same car - and probably should be the other way around too, but for some reason I felt more "spaceshippy" in the VW. American Cars have really big comfy seats (leathers seem to have a different feel to them), for those who enjoy big American things. I find they are like a soft, squishy matress. Ok for some, but not so supportive. Just my two cents.
Recently got a R500 for my wife. It is very quiet and smooth. It is great for hauling the family and dog around. It is a big vehicle, but does not feel like a big SUV.
Defintely the new S class... It is simply outstanding.. I have driven the 550 as well as the 600 and they are NICE!! If mercedes can keep the maintaince and problems under control they will once again be on top of the luxury market, no doubt about it
hate to tell everyone but it has been well know for years, that the smoothest riding cars are Citroen with their hydraulic suspension. They may also be the ugliest.
Just so I'm clear, you're suggesting that the Citroen with it's "hydraulic" suspension is a smoother ride than a RR Phantom? Oooooookay.
the new mercedes S550, with its air suspension, is like riding on air...the new bentley is also smooth as it the new RR phantom....
Lincoln Town Car. Took a ride in one of these in Toronto, coming from the airport. really smooth ride.
The smoothest thing I ever drove was a Ford Windstar with about 2500lbs worth of people and luggage. However, speed bumps are not your friend with a setup like that.
