anyone else getting this? i've only been getting one or so a month for the last 6 months or so. one was for 'cheap furniture' or some crap, others were to do with utility services or something, but this latest one is one of those dumb 'flirt' text things... "FreeMSG. You have a secret admirer! Reply CHAT to this msg to be connected! For help call 1300885902. Average msg cost $2.70" sender: 19735555
oh it's you again!??? i googled it, and on the whirlpool forums it seems as though everyone's getting it over the last couple days, regardless of number range or carrier... http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/465313.html
What a coincedence, I got that exact message today aswell......first time for me. $10.80 later and I still don't know who my secret admirer is.... EDIT: I'm with Optus.
An automated voice msg from optus called me last week, and asked me if i wanted to change my plan. Where do they get the audacity to have an automated call you?
i never pick up nowadays unless i know who's calling. if it comes up "private number" and i'm not expecting a call, they get to listen to me say "if i didn't answer then i probably don't want to talk to you."
I had two private callers yesterday, to which i didnt answer, so i gave my phone to my friend who likes to speak to randoms.. I never get those wierd messages now, they used to come to my phone but i somehow managed to unsubscribe or to get them to go away. The most spam i get now is telstra service messages with stuff like "You have one free ringtone waiting" It's free, but it costs to connect to GPRS and then you've gotta download one ringtone a month, at something like $5.50.. Phones these days huh?
Same here. If the number isn't in my contacts forget it. I can't wait for the national "do not call" register.
Louise would kill you if you did that !! my first missus use to just play with the stereo when I went into fast mode, she was very cool about the whole thing ... g/f in London also use to play with the tape deck when the car got over 100mph
A few years ago I was driving a TR back from the Sunshine Coast late at night and Louise asked me to slow down. So I did as I was told and slowed a bit, then asked her if she was comfortable, she wasn't, so I slowed some more knowing that she was looking at the speedo. I kept slowing from 160 to finally at 110 she said she was fine at that speed. I don't think I ever told her the speedo was in MPH.
Got one of these SMS's today.. I just recently changed my number so they might be pulling out random numbers to spam..
my boy keeps telling Leonie that we did "120" when we go for a drive .... she hasn't worked it out yet that this is an English car
has anyone else had any of those prankies from the DC Marketing scam? i was called by 02 8404 2215 on 10/06/06 @ 12:01pm, the gf had half a dozen in a weekend, and i'm hearing of other people i know getting these as well, so far all sydney and mexican numbers. the idea is those people who just can't stand the mystery call the number back, and are charged ridiculous rates (like $100) for the call to some marketing scam. can't verify as i'd never answer, and especially wouldn't call back anyone i don't know. anyhoo: http://www.4wisemonkeys.com/dc-phone-scam
I was going to post that link.... Its being happening since Xmas.. I got buzzed afew days ago. All I can say is dont callback missed calls... Here is a list of known number ranges. http://skit.id.au/blog/2006/01/24/mobile-call-back-spam/
It doesnt matter which carrier you're with, they are running it from a database, on OCAU there have been optus/telstra/voda ppl getting the calls. Besides calling the company and asking to get those numbers blocked... nothing else can be done because DC actually pays the prizes out(well after $40 worth of 1900 waiting)...
I received one and stupidly enough called back (happened on Tuesday), so I'll see what happens when I get the phone bill next week. No way in hell I'm gonna pay $100 for it though....
