I couldn't find a thread to post this so I started one.

Go to a good nut store like Picard's and get:

5 cups of the extra fancy Virginia redskin peanuts
    2 cups Honey roasted peanuts
    2 cups Butter Toasted Pecans

Mix and serve. To die for. Serve with beer. Amazing! I'm gorging right now.

    1.25 lb raw cashews
    .5 cup sugar
    .5 cup water
    .25 cup cooked bacon, diced
Half the bacon fat from cooking
    1 Tblspoon butter

    Directions:

Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and heat until boiling. Add the cashews, and stir continuously. Use a pastry brush dipped in water to occasionally wipe the inside of the pot.*When the water evaporates and the sugar is caramelized, stir in the bacon. Turn off the heat, and add the bacon fat and butter, and smoked salt to taste. Transfer to a greased cookie sheet to cool, then break apart.

Good! Glad you liked. I would throw together batches for good customers to snack on at the bar of the last restaurant I worked in.

Not something I'd serve for 'grown up's' (although for a Super Bowl party-yum!) but my kids love these. Also a great food idea for college kids-who can't afford a pound of hamburger meat and a loaf of bread? And somehow the bread never burns.

Wrap a piece of bacon around a dried apricot and a slice of jalapeño. Repeat 15 or 20 times. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes or until the bacon is done. Try not to eat them all.

Finally tried this out myself, with a poor result. Cooking the nuts in the hot sugar made them soft, unless the nuts were NG. I suspect carmelizing the sugar FIRST then adding nuts is the correct way. Yes, no?
