Hello There, I live in Eastern Canada, which has the reputation of owning some of the best winter length records (that said it's a bit different lately as we can have now 3 seasons in a single day ...) I wish to extend a bit the driving season, living up in a mountain snow can start early, last up to early spring. might snow a bit during seasons transitions and this is the reason why I am considering winter tires. do some of you drive their cars in snow ?? I have seen the F430 has VERY little traction on cold roads and snow, (did the test while entering my garage this early december) so might not worth the expense, unless you can share your experiences ? let me know ! Thanks
I am not sure what tires you can fit on the F430 for winter, but when I looked there is no match for those sizes .... only all seasons. Which might not cut the chase if snows...
For what it's worth, my RWD M3 with Michelin Pilot Alpin 4 is like on rails on light snow... well almost you get the gist
Have no doubts I drive a M850i in winter as it is Xdrive, still enjoying the power with snow tires, but not a huge challenge.... it is my daily family car ... but I'd love to drive more the F430, I am sure I have seen snow tires on this car... Just not really sure it would grip as well as your M3.
Put the car in storage and get a snow sled for winter. Or put some tracks on a side by side, or get an FF.
Finding narrower wheels with the same bolt pattern and installing some good winter tires like nokia hakkapeliitta could be an option. But (unless you plan to do YouTube videos of things which make no sense but are good click bites) I think it is a bad idea to drive a Ferrari in the snow. Think of all the rust damage from the salt. And all the crashes you can have (even if you are a perfect driver other drivers are not). I would not drive a car like 360/F430 in the snow, just keep summer or 4 season tires and take it out on a dry and sunny day in winter (if you must collect some salt dust to accelerate rust) or best get some fun winter car like a Subaru WRX etc. I've solved that problem by simply moving South and I'm glad I did
My well sorted f430 has lived a climate controlled life with nice weather driving only. Despite the pampering it has been in the shop for months becoming … more well sorted. i can’t imaging exposing it to winter road chemicals, sand and salt, it will definitely not end pretty. Maybe ok if u don’t plan on long term ownership or don’t care about money
Thanks ! makes sense . I have a all year daily grancoupe M850i which can output 600hp, very fun in the snow and also very practical... I just wished to drive the Ferrari for longer time in the year but you are right about the salt and unnecessary risks might need to move in the south one day... but business is here and retirement is not for today!
Fun find ! this is the only one I found too, and another guy in Montreal driving up to Montremblant with his 360, seems like an epic trip ahah
As others have said the wide tires are the biggest issue. There a plenty of pics of 308’s and 911’s running in snow but with 225’s on the rear instead of 285’s (or bigger). Of course stay away from those regions where they salt the roads.
