hello, this actually happened. sent a e-mail to a ferrari-maserati dealership in chicago and got a response. looking at a pre-owned maserati coupe GT. e-mail chat was very business like. but when i arrived in my porsche, i was kinda passed over as a "wanna-be" so what does it take to be taken seriously at a ferrari-maserati dealership? besides showing up with a dump truck full of money? kind regards, joseph
Each dealership is different... Some dealerships wait for you to ask,... If you're serious, set up an appointment before you come in, and I guarantee you will be taken seriously. Keep in mind the other side of the coin. Every so often someone post they we're at a ferrari dealership just to admire the cars and the salesman paid "too much" attention to them...
What model Porsche? From what I have found, in a F-M dealership, you will get the best results if you make an appointment with a sales rep, as opposed to just "Pop In"
hello. My Porsche 944S was traded in on my 1995 Porsche 968 Cabriolet (as stated in my profile) MSRP $55,819.00 if you were wondering... joe
No, not especially. Why was it necessary to state its MSRP I will never know. Anyway, sorry about the mistake, I took a quick look in the profile and copied the first Porsche my eye caught. Good car though, I always like the 968s. Great engines, Porsche should have kept the line instead of making the Boxter. What do I know though, I am no marketing/sales guru.
hello, i'm not trying to pick a fight. but when you quoted me as having a 944S, a car that would be 18 years old today, i took it as stating that i wasn't a customer that looks to be taken seriously in a maserati dealership. that's why i pointed out the sticker price of my porsche. i was still dissapointed to be "brushed off" by the ferrari-maserati dealership. kind regards jjmalez '95 porsche 968 cabriolet '07 volvo S40
I don't think it was your car that made them treat you the way you feel you were treated. You don't mention any detail of the meeting once you were inside. Walk in with a purpose, efficient but not rushed, confident but not arrogant, have them page the salesman you had emailed and then after shaking his hand and introducing yourself tell him pleasantly and directly, "I am interested in buying that black Coupe GT. Will you tell me about it? Can we go and see it?" If after that approach to the salesman, he does not cater to you, THEN they don't deserve your business. Lastly, a car dealer is never going to consider your stature based on the MSRP of the vehicle you bring. They will look at the auction or trade-in value of your vehicle right now. That $55k number is meaningless, they probably see about $9k.
Ah I see, no that was not my intention, rather I was merely trying to help out and answer the poster's question. I can understand you position though, sorry for 'cornering' you like that, that wasn't my intention either.
If you're really serious about spending $50,000 on a car (don't use your Porsche as an example a car that USED to cost $50,000 10 years ago doesn't mean you have the ability to purchase a Maserati), all you have to do is pick up the phone and schedule an appointment. In the time it took you to make this thread and whine about it, you could have done this. When will people get that Ferrari and Maserati dealers have people constantly wasting their time and stealing misc. things off the cars (center caps, shift knobs, etc) don't get butt-hurt if they don't treat you like a prince.
hello, wow are you guys testy tonight. * first of all, i only brought up the MSRP of my porsche because i thought i was being 'dissed for only having a 944S * secondly, who are you to question if i have the means to buy a maserati? * and lastly, if you think i'm whining about this, you are sadly mistaken. f-chat is just that. a internet site to ask & answer questions. go bother someone else... joe
you're right. i just got married and the whole volvo thing kinda freaked me out. sorry to all if i was rude. kind regards, joseph
sell the volvo, sell the porsche, buy the maserati, and tell the wife to keep her mouth closed except in the bedroom..
