I valet'd years ago, and to determine a car was a "beast" wasnt happening. Down the block around the corner into a lot, all of .5/10 of a mile. Exotics and the like right in front..

A "beast"....???

 

Since the cars would likely be parked in close proximity to the restaurant, I would doubt that he had much of a chance to get any of them up to speed. I would think that some of the earlier cars with heavier clutches would be more "beast like". I think we have a youngster here that never misses an episode of Top Gear. I smell BS!

 

Quick question, did he say the car was a beast? or did he say the car was beast? Two different things in today's vernacular.

 

I highly doubt he actually drove any exotic car quickly... at all. I'm not going to say he's full of sh*t for claiming he was a valet, but I do think he didn't actually mean that an F430 was a beast because he was able to drive it around at high speeds. He probably just revved the engine. *shrug*

 

Being that I'm a bit dated, what's the difference?

If there was only one F430 he ever drove it may simply have had the best exhaust. In comparing some cars seat of the pants "beastness" can occur before going into gear. Joe, the one thing I do know for sure is that he clearly never drove a black Mondial cabriolet with tan leather or he would have commented "the sweetest Ferrari I ever parked was ......."

To say the car was a "beast" could have just been his impression sitting behind the wheel.....definately not his "fast and furious" civic with a wing and fart can.

Many people have come up to my Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster with the same comments...OMG....what a beast!

Doesn't the 430 have good low end torque compared to the earlier v8s? I would think the 430 would be impressive in a parking lot. The Mondial on the other hand wouldn't come across as beastly unless he dropped the clutch at 5000 rpm, which is why I too will never hand the keys to a valet.

 

I NEVER once let a Valet ANYWHERE NEAR my 430.......I doubt this guy EVER drove a 430 even in a parking lot.

 

Don't have one, but when I do VERY FEW people will ever drive it but me....the last person I would let drive it would be a valet.

I also don't get it... presumably, it'll be one of those modern idioms disseminated from a teenager. As I don't know any of those (my younger sister is in her 20's now), I'm usually the last to have these things explained to me - by which time, the next incomprehensible youthful euphemism has arrived to indefinitely perpetuate my confusion...

The phrase it's beast means it cool, awesome, radical....ad naeseum. Its beast seems to be the replacement for its 'the bomb'. I'm a Scout Leader so I kind keep up with the lingo by default. The most handy tool I have found is an online site called 'Urban Dictionary' its allows me to look up language that the kids use and then after I have the proper context use it back. Now if you want to see a bunch of suprised, annoyed teenagers with rolling eyes use one of their phrases or words back at them...I myself find it rather entertaining.

 

If you want to really mess with the Tipi Tais - you and your Main Damie should get this down pat, then converse amongst yourselves in Pootie Tanglish.

"Bammies." - many interpretations and usages
"Sa Da Tay." - generally positive interpretations
"Wa Da Tah." - many interpretations and usages
"Sepatown." - many interpretations and usages
"The Tipi Tais." - generally accepted as "the kids"
"Dirty Dee, you're a baddy daddy lamatai tabby chai!" - a threat, an insult, or both
"What's the Dabble Dee?" - generally accepted as "What's the matter?"
"Main Damie." - generally accepted as "Best Friend"
"Well Bob, I'm a pone tony." - explains his achievement in many diverse fields
"I'm going to sine your pitty on the runny kine!" - a warning to his enemies of impending punishment; also used to smooth-talk the ladies
"Ma Dilly." - seems to refer to a female "Damie"; he refers to Biggie Shorty as his Dilly
"Nay-no" - A convoluted way of simply saying "no"; "I can't say the Nay-no my brotha."

I never understood the concept of valets. Now i dont want to piss off everyone that does use them but I mean is it that difficult to park the car and walk maybe 100 meters at most? Somehow valets never made sense to me. So can someone explain why people use them? I mean im just curious, but personally giving the keys to my car to some random guy is similar to telling a waiter "Heres my date. Escort her to the table while I look important."
