I joined the the hyper-milers today with the purchase of a 06 Prius.

It's a neat gizmo car with Bluetooth and Nav and stuff. Not a big fan of leather seats but oh well.

Kinda strange to have two v-8 gas guzzlers with 12 city and 18 highway mileage and a hybrid that gets (according to the window sticker) 60 city and 51 highway.

    Pic's to follow later.

    Congrats!
So, when I drop off my car at your place and take the Prius to the shop, I can probably do that commute ...ummmm 300+ times from ur place to the shop on one tank? or charge? Do these even need to be charged?
    Or is that old technology?

The gas motor charges the battery.

Not sure on how the whole thing works. It comes with a 450 page OM.

I like the keyless entry and the keyless start. As long as I have the fob with me, the doors auto open and the car can start.

Stop by on the way home if you want to go for a spin.

That's about what our company's car gets. About 200 miles a day mixed freeway and city driving.

    Congrats!!!

    Welcome to owning a Prius.

Might sound disturbing, but my parents own 2. An 04 (silver) and an 05 (salsa red pearl). Any questions about any gizmos PM me.

They are looking at trading both in for a Camry Hybird.

I'll post a pic of them later.

I ALMOST got the camry. That car was solid! I opted for the Pruis Prius with the #8 instead.

I read most of the manual yesterday. Getting the voice stuff down is gonna be a pain. The Nav on the prius is very different then the nav on the aviator.

The only gizmo issue I have is getting the phone address book from my Blackberry Bluetooth into the car's phone book. The instructions are not very clear about "register" and "goup" and bla bla bla. It gave me a headache.

Yeah, but Vespa is code for greasy haired Euro-guy with hot girl friend, extremo-liberal politics, and possibly, trust fund.
Whereas, hybrid car screams pseudo-liberal American Hillary-supporting, Michael Moore movie-watching, organic-munching Bush hater.

You forgot "with old money trust fund" :)
I have LS600hL ordered, will put "Friends of OPEC" bumpersticker on it. Should confuse the greenies. Thinking about putting "Hybrid" badges on the fun cars too.

    Can't argue with that :)

I am hoping that the gas-guzzling, uber-SUV that get's gallons to the mile and the Ferrari, the world renound symbol for excess with the Ferrari plate frame will redeem me in some eyes.

I think I need to get the "war for oil" bumber sticker for it.

For the record, I am a hard-core republican supporting, Michael Moore movie-hating, Meat eating Bush supporter.

    :)

The Prius was $33000 OTD with all the bells.

The difference is that on 11 gallons of gas, you get the same distance that a car with 22 gallons get. That is an average savings of $30 per fillup at current prices. That averages out to about $120 per month.

BTW, I just filled up the Vespa for the first time since I bought it.
It had about 90 miles on the clock, and still had a quarter tank. Go figure.

Just out of curiousty, do u really like the car or is it solely for the purpose of a woping 120.00 per month savings? I mean, come on, does that really matter that much to drive that around? I have an escalade and get 12mpg, but wether i spend 300 or 450 in gas per month is irrelevent. Its not going to kill the bank. I just dont really understand the huge worries about gas prices. Maybe I am missing somthing.

Prob April 07. I had dep down when I heard 1st whiff of it. AWD, 5.0 V8+ electrics =430bhp. LWB only. Should get mid 20's, unlike the 11-12 I get when I drive our W12 Audi. Wife drives far more than I do, so hybrid for her. I get the 12 :)
    Lexus service really is amazing.
