I recently bought an enclosed 8.5' x 24' trailer. I've looked on this forum, asked ChatGPT / Perplexity / Claude for the recommendation on how to tow a 458. I don't see a consensus on whether to just leave it in Park once all cinched down, or if I need to disengage the DCT with that tool in frunk, or what carwash mode does (if you have to leave the key in the "on" position). What's a new 458 owner to do? Appreciate the feedback. Image Unavailable, Please Login

If you have it cinched down correctly I don't think it matters. I've never paid attention to the mode and I've trailered mine many times. I've never given it much thought, so I could be wrong.

I agree if it's secured it shouldn't be moving enough to matter. If it's not secured well, probably better for it to be in park!

I've had mine towed in for its annual and they always put it on a flat bed in park then cinch down over the wheels with straps. I don't think you need to disengage the DCT.

If your trailer is moving around enough to damage your tran̈ny, you got bigger problems lol

E-track and over the tire straps with the rubber blocks sewn into the straps. I got mine from e-trailer.

Be careful strapping down any other way. If straps are crossed under the rear fascia then good chance you’ll crack a fog light surround.

as far as neutral or not, as others said you got bigger problems if things are moving enough to damage the gearbox with the park pin engaged. But try the tool once and you’ll see it’s very easy to do. And if you get a winch for your trailer then you’ll need to put it in neutral anyway.

I tow race cars a lot. Least car damage is a car winched into trailer. There just isn’t room to drive in, open, door squeeze out unless you are a 30” waist jeans. That means you gotta find neutral. The car moves least if tied on all 4 wheels to let chassis move on it’s suspension. A wheel chock on front and rear of one tire tied together by simple bungee cords will cinch onto the tire and limit movement the most. A strap only car moves and the straps loosen with miles.
