You’re also probably the only person in the world with 2 sets of late production carbon sports seats in plain weave carbon. One black set and one tan set. One set possibly narrow size (black seats) and one set large (tan). If you can make a visual or feel comparison between the two, we can file that in the 355 history books :).

Oddly enough, recently I feel like there’s this weird phenomenon 355 owners are ending up with TWO 355’s :). Either by accident, fate, intentional… it’s happening.

I have always been a big NSX fan - much to do with my admiration for Ayrton Senna. I watched and read everything I could about the car. I found out about the NSXFiles in the early days of the internet and bought all the videos (VHS and DVD). They got plenty of screen time on the TV in my house. All the campy/kitsch cinematography and music made them a joy to watch over and over. The trips to the Virginia City Hill Climb were epic. When Doug and Wayne got the 355's I was in heaven. An NSX and a 355? What more could you want? Who are these guys and what did they do for a living I asked myself. Fast forward 20 years later and I have a supercharged NA1 NSX and a 355 Challenge in my garage. Only thing I'm missing are all my NSXFiles videos. I think they were never returned when a friend borrowed them many a year ago. I have contacted Doug from time to time and asked about replacement videos but unfortunately it doesn't appear he has any left. Hoping that one day someone uploads them to the internet. My daughter Senna is 6 and my son Niko is 3. Need to get them hooked on "the Files" before all this electrification takes over.

Interior parts are out.. dash getting recovered, all buttons & panels de-stickied , carpets shampood and seats refreshed...this is turning into a serious undertacking- I was almost thinking to remove the carpets and have them dyed black..hmm..i think interior would look great with deviated carpets and will remain clean if carpets are black..

Always nice to have a decent OEM stereo going with also good upgraded speakers but retaining OEM look & location...I wish ferrari made something like the Porsche Classic Radio which is touch screen even has navigation but looks classic at the same time.

update on the 355, had the interior stripped out, dash and airbag recovered in new leather then had the seats and every leather part reconditioned, and redyed + i really hated the old beat up tan carpets, never been a fan of tan carpets in any interior, so had my carpets removed and professionally cleaned then redyed black. Everything looks spectacular (excuse the cheesy vaccum lines in the carpets lol)

next is to complete the manual conversion, then paint correction & ceramic coating

Time to update the thread, i just picked up the car finally a few days from Fast Cars...it took 7 months to sort out the car, cosmetically & mechanically.

First impressions after the semi restoration:

The car feels fantastic, i've driven a few 355's now but this one after being serviced by Fast Cars feels just right, everything functions properly, the car feels so tight & the sound is amazing, Francisco there at the end spent a few days finely tuning everything to perfection, the engine has a beautiful humm. I ended up upgrading the radiator to aluminum too.

For exhaust i traded my mille miglia off and got X-OST which isn't as loud but still sounds pretty darn good, i added Capristo valve and have it rigged to stay open, so car sounds great (P1448 engine code comes because of this but its ok) I added BMC air filters too.

The conversion from F1 to manual feels 100% factory, but factory "Fresh" you just feel like everything is new in there..the car shifts precisely & seamless , out of all the work Fast Cars said this was basically the easiest part, converting these to manual from F1 is pretty simple , it did take a while because they insisted on using all the OEM genuine parts they could find so some took a while to get in stock.

I Also added a bunch of Carbon fiber parts to it to match the carbon seats..usually i'm not big on carbon fiber, but it turned out to be a great choice here..did the mccarbon door sills, mirror triangle inside covers, door handles, dash pod & radio pod + hand brake lever..its not too much, its just right and really compliments the carbon seats. Dying the carpet from Tan to Black totally transformed the interior of the car. The new leather on dash and airbag along with removing rest of interior and getting anything that needed some touch up done was a must..

couple of remaining things i want to do is a paint correction & ceramic + lower the car just a tad bit more and put in some new speakers while outfitting the Ferrari 360 becker i got for it w bluetooth

Here are a couple of pics of "almost" finished project..i love this car!

PS: i've emailed Doug the original owner a few times and we've talked, i'm excited to meet up with him soon and show him the car, i think the last time he saw it was over 10 years ago when he sold it.
