For spring break? Any tips on where to stay or really tips on anything. I know nothing about the place other than it looks pretty so tips on resorts, prices, etc. etc. etc. would be awesome. Two things I would like to see are Pearl Harbor and an active volcano or two. Also this will most likely be a solo mission as im looking to get away from everything and everyone so a place that is somewhat secluded would be nice but I don’t wanna spend a **** load.is it possible to get there for under 2k and have fun? I dont travel much cause im poor so i know nothing about traveling or what to expect with prices. And like i said the only two things i really want are pearl harbor and the volcanoes. If i have to ride a bike or walk to the pearl or the volcanoes that is cool but my main priority is to be on a really nice beach that i can just walk out to and read all day long and not be bugged by stupid people..

    thanks for the help,
    Ry

    Ryan,

Hostels are very big in Hawaii. If you are young or young at heart this is a cheap way to go and experience Hawaii low-key. You are going to need to hit a few Islands if you want to see Pearl and an active volcano (I hope!! lol). How long do you want to go for and do you have a budget?

They are on the North Shore if you want quiet. They can also tell you about a Hostel on Hawaii which is where you want to go to see an active volcano.

Hawaiian Airlines used to have a 7 day pass but I think they stopped selling them. Give them a call

Bus service is cheap but it takes awhile. I think you could do it under budget but I don't know what it would cost to get out there.

I went to Maui a few years ago and it changed my life. Prior to going, I hadn't been to many places - only the usual Vegas, etc.

I went to Maui with my g/f at the time and we spent about $1K each for a week. That included airfaire, hotel, and car rental. We went in September/October so the rates were probably a bit cheaper than spring break.

One word of warning: If you're under 25, they'll charge you $20/day EXTRA for the rental.

Bottom line: Hawaii is amazing. You can definitely do it for under $2K. And you must go snorkeling.

Pearl Harbor and an active volcano would add a good bit of money to your trip is you would have to island hop. I've heard rumors about dirt cheap inter-island airfares, but have yet to actually see one. Oahu is good if you want the entire experience on one island. You could do a lot there for $2k. I'm moving there in June (Oahu), so if you decide on that island let me know and I can give more info on maximizing your stay.
