And i decided to get creative rather than do any real work I have some vinyl sign/auto lettering equipment so got some thick semi-transparent tinted adhesive film, then digitized and cut some light covers to take the orange away from the front of my 355. I think it turned out great. This also protects the front lenses from breakage should they be hit by a stone. I also made clear ones (invisible in picture) to protect the undoubtedly overpriced glass head/fog lights. I do realize i could have put the clear lenses on the front turn indicators, but I think this looks better. I was surprised to see just how much light still penetrates the opaque-looking black tinted covers and the reflectivity of the sidemarkers. If anyone wants a set of these, let me know. I can make more. Sorry for the blurry pics. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No... You can buy kits like this for people-movers or have stuff like this done custom by professional places... Bimmian, that looks GREAT...! Next thing you should is tint the windows and paint the wheels all black... Now that would be stealth...!
I am sure that the guys that do the inspection are more concerned about emissions than something like this and may not notice, but if they did notice i am sure they would require its removal, which is no problem because it peels off, and can be re-made and reinstalled.
tints are usuallythe first thing i do to a car, but when driving the top / windows are always down.... Unfortunately, the car is away for the winter, so i will have to wait til spring to do much else to it. re rims: i have heard this specific tire is very hard to find and expensive for these rims, so maybe new rims altogether once the rubber is gone from these -- anyone have input on the costs of these tires?
Wait a sec, I just noticed your username/location/name.... Ian, you were at our meet back on Oct 1st weren't you? I thought you had a pozzi or a dark blue-ish 355?? Must have forgotten it was black. Sweet car that was. Did you Tubi it yet? For prices on tires... PM Tom (Tbakowsky) or James (JAMESAUTOFORUM) - yes his username is capitalized, don't ask... - I'm sure they may be of help.
Yep, that was me, i was there. car was always black Still looking for a Tubi, I am trying to get one second hand to save a buck, that and i have not actually heard one up close. Tom tells me that there are 2 versions, and i want to hear both before getting one. Regarding the tires, i am not in the market for tires, the car was delivered with new ones on, so i have while to go yet.
No its not window tint, that would not stick. It is a thicker version of a material that looks sort of like window tint and has the same optical properties as window tint. It has adhesive on the back - like a sticker. it is much more easily removable than window tint , and it also provides the benefit of far reducing the likelihood of your lens cracking due to a hit from a stone. Another member reading this thread PMed me and i ended up making him a set as well. I can make you a set too. I probably wont get to it til early next week, but i can do that no problem for a fellow member. Thanks
I actually want to do this for the F430, M3 and GT3. That's why I asked for tips on where to find it.
The stuff needs to be cut on a machine, it will look bad if done by hand. If you want to provide me the designs, i can provide you with the cut-out films. I have access to an M3 as well, so that may be an easier one to do.
I know the tint material comes in black, blue, yellow and clear. I only have black and clear. I suppose i could get others, what were you thinking?
