I’m quite excited to say the least. Thanks to Robin Hastings for getting me going. This is going to be great! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sure is! Obviously a wealth of knowledge there! Thanks, I can’t wait to get it out on the road as a proper (IMO, of course) GT! Few more parts to source but it’s coming along nicely already.
Thread subscribed! Will be fun watching/learning as you embark on the journey! So grateful for the sharing.
Well, just dropped it off at the shop. A few small things to do (annual service, inspection, door rattle) while waiting on more parts, but it’s moving in the right direction! Woo Hoo!!
Well…a few actually. Turret is a big one. Have any lines for me? It appears having bits fabbed from scratch is completely possible if not imminent, but timeline may still be a question mark.
Yes! Thanks. Just awaiting assessment of their quality prior to purchase, but it’s looking very promising. Spoke with 360Trev’s associate Sam about ECU tunes, and all good there. That was my mechanic’s main concern, and now that it’s out of the way it appears we are 100% green lighted! I…AM…STOKED!
Parts delivered, conversion begins after Christmas. EEEEEE!!!!! I’ll do my best to document; shop is a good jog from my house. They assure me they will fully document things though, so I’ll have some updates if folks are interested. Yeah!! Just received word things are ahead of schedule and the tranny is already mostly disassembled and ready for parts. Going in tomorrow to get ECUs and send them out. pics tomorrow!! YES!!
Heck yes, I would too. I really want to do one but I have 7 cars including dailies and that’s just stupid. To keep my wife happy something has to go if I add a 575 and right now i can’t bear to let anything go. maybe if I can wait 20 (?) years then when @tazandjan is ready to sell I can buy his (unless one of his relatives already has right of first refusal) ….I’m always dreaming of his SA tach face.
I know that struggle all too well, sir. I was sitting at that same number not long ago and I was starting to stress because not everything was being driven a proper amount...but I really wanted to keep them all! Finally just had to say, "You know what? I really like money too." Still wish I had some warehouse space somewhere...
Hopefully you just mean the transaxle has been removed. No need to disassemble since all the changed parts are external.
Made some good progress already. I do need a clutch master cylinder, but I’d imagine Ricambi can hook me up there. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This will be cool to follow! Please include some pictures of the rest of the car aswell. Can some of the old parts you take off be used as spares for other Ferrari models so you can get something of your investment back as you nonlonger need the old parts?
Ok I'm too stupid to know what the project is. 575 to 550 manual conversion? All that work I'm putting in a real sequential gearbox and going racing.
Thanks, I’m pretty thrilled! I’m sure they could be sold; they’re all in 100% serviceable condition as I bought well and am fairly meticulous with service. Right now I’m planning to hold on to them so if I ever sell the option is there. If things turn out as I think they will, well…that probably won’t be for a long time!
Thing is, while I certainly don’t know what I’m doing and wouldn’t attempt it myself, it isn’t THAT much work. Shop had all of this done yesterday and now we just need ECUs and the aforementioned clutch master cylinder (and two hydraulic lines) and we’re go for getting it back together. Going to check the clutch, etc just to be sure. I think that’s prudent.
