I don't understand what the point of some going though the trouble of setting up an ad like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-355-F1-Spider-Is-SOLD-DO-NOT-BID-1999_W0QQitemZ200032048642QQihZ010QQcategoryZ6212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Any thoughts?
I think that was adjusted after he had sold the car, hence likely while it was an active auction they probably got the usual barrage of ridiculous offers, tyre kickers and pillocks. Alas eBay reaches a massively wide audience but that also means the amount of idiots you get replying increases exponentially!! Price you pay I guess. Joke is half the ferrari parts on ebay aren't bargains at all with a load of the new parts on there seeming to go for more than it would cost at a dealer. Not to say there aren't bargains. but folks just take it for granted that it must be a bargain. Classic example, engine and hood struts on 355's, they cost me £35 for a pair from a uk dealer including shipping, cheapest I often see on the web is £50, worst I saw was one nutter trying to sell them buy it now style for nearly £100 for EACH ONE. Routinely see them go for the £50 and have seen auctions go beyond £100 when all it would take is a phone call.
£50 struts. Yes, I fell for that one before I found the brotherhood. We live and learn. Sometimes knowledge costs.
I'm sure he had a lot of people telling him that he would never get $92,000, and this is just an "in your face" kind of reaction. First, I think it's pretty sad for this guy to post such a thing...regardless of what people may have said to him about his price; like someone said, that's the price for wide exposure of your product. Second, I would never trust an immature weezer that would post something like that...he could very well be lying about getting $90,000...just so he could post this "rebuttle" to all his those who doughted him. Third, I would never buy anything from him...could you imagine trying to deal with such an attitude in the event a problem should arise after the sale. Just my opinion...your mileage may vary.
i sold a burnout 86 testarossa on ebay in 04. it was my personal car and the insurance company said it was so badly burned that it was only worth 500$. so i bought the car backfrom the insurance co. put it on ebay for 9,999$ no interior left rear of car was frame and motor, but the front end clip was still there. 1 week and had 4000 hits and probably 100 offers of people telling me to give them the car for a right off, it's only worth 3k. well ended the auction early with 2 repair shops fighting for the car. sold it for 12K and ended the auction early. this gentleman needed a gear in the transfer housing and the only way to get it was to buy a whole transmission! he was happy and so was i 2days later certified check for 12k. i sort of wish i did what this guy did to tell all the a holes out there that they were all full of sh--t. interesting part to the story, the car sat in my drive way for 3 weeks another guy drove down from NY to see the car and he wanted it. told him to call the new owner in cali. i became friendly with the new owner, he later told me on a trip back to NJ that he took the transmission, the block went to sweden, the front end to southern cali and the guy in NY got the remains. So so much to all those nay sayers. between the insurance money and my sale of the car i had enough money to jump into a 355 without any cash out of pocket and a couple of dollars for a major service.
