Well, I tried to schedule my summer vacation during 30k mile service. But when I went to the mechanic that had put me on a six week waiting list to drop off the car he instantly tried to jack up the price 2 grand (before even stepping outside to look at the car). Money is money but its the principle of the thing too, I could rant about this for a while so I will stop and I don't really want to gossip about that guy. With that falling out I scrambled for a new mechanic and drove a little slower in the meantime, I needed clutch work too.

Anyways, I found who I believe to be the nicest and most genuine Ferrari mechanic by researching on this site, I went with Johannes from Dino motors. First of all, he loves the cars (who doesn't?) and he is loving the car while working on it. I went to visit her (her name is Mia Machina but I haven't decided on the spelling yet) and Johannes spent some good time with me explaining more about the car than I could ever understand. It was the deep admiration for the casting and craftsmanship of the parts that he truly wanted to point out to me that made me appreciate the car soo much more.

because of that, I wanted to give a shot out to good mechanics that know how to treat people. I found that I like to do business with people that I feel a relationship of some sort with (just say no to starbucks and try even your local peets to see the difference) and while that first mechanic lost my business, it turned out for the better. Ok, I didn't get her back yet and all I want to do is drive her but I feel better about who I left it with and that level of security and confidence takes off some of the pain of missing her...ah man I sound like a wus here, whatever.

I know you want some pictures...I am really bad at that. I used my camera phone because I was trying to play it cool. For some reason taking pictures of the car at the mechanic kinda felt like taking pictures of a friend in the ICU of a hospital. But what the hell, I'll throw in a couple I have from the Ferrari challenge to end on a happier note, the last one is me checking out someone else engine.

oh by the way, you guys may know but it should be said. The 328 does not require an "engine out" for the 30k mile service. I confirmed this with two mechanics and the dealership in silicon valley (redwood city?). Some mechanics will say it does, I think that means they are not sure what they need to do OR ...they want to provide you with "extra special" attention and do more labor to make sure they are doing it for you just right.

Having the right mechanic is like having a good physician, you need to feel 100% comfortable with them. Great color on the 328!

    Welcome to F-Chat!

I spent a lot of time researching independents before my purchase and went with Dino Motors (check a few of my posts for more info). Johannes is a great guy all around and has a tremendous history with 3x8 cars and bulls. He is also a judge, judging cars at last summers Palo Alto Concourse. He will treat you right. Tell him that Larry with the 5.6K orig mile 328 says hi, and that the car now has 6.6K miles!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I plan to do a lot of mileage only stopping for food, wine, woman and... service. ;)
