THis car was running in the Ferrari Challenge at Spa at the weekend and I believe went into the wall at the top of Eau Rouge. I think the owner was French and had just paid £250,000 for the car. The only upside is the front and rear clams are fibre glass copies however, the car is very badly damaged and these pictures do not show the full extent, note the broken wheel rim. Such a shame.

It is a competition car. Damage is bound to occur. No biggie.

Is this one of the barchetta F40s or has the roof been badly damaged?

Race sheets suggest the driver was David Edge who I think is English and sometimes also races a 355 CHallenge

If that is the case, then this is a conventional body F40, that does'nt look too clever.
    Was the driver injured?

Ouch! Eau Rouge is one of the greatest corners in the world, but it certainly has claimed its fair share of victims. I was watching "Shaken & Stirred: Racing Classic Astons at Spa" the other day on HD Net and more than a few people had trouble negotiating that very spot. I'm sure a race tuned F-40 would be a lot of "fun" there :D

Whats the big deal? At least the car was trashed at a race track, and not some public road by some rich billionaire's kid and appear on wrecked exotics.

No it is a regular F40 road car that, as far as I could tell had an exhaust and possibly some engine work, waste gate looked different. The car was running slicks but a standard interior. The roof was fine actually, the picture just looks odd but it went into the wall backwards and the damage is all the way to the cockpit. The driver was fine thankfully.

Your Porsche looks great. But it needs a racing number on the side, or maybe even a Martini logo?

    Is the white also wrapped?

+1 on Eau Rouge, also one of the most difficult. To do it right, you need to be flat out. He must have run a bit wide left and then had the turbos spool up a fraction early. Combination would put you right into the fence tail first.
