    yes, that's right.

Yesterday my wife and I went to go look at the little pup (siberian husky) that we put the deposit down on. While there and talking to Stephen the breeder we noticed a family had just brought back a 3 and a half month old pup (male). Due to the fact they didnt know how to discipline him or train him etc..

So, after buying the movie "eight below" the night before, little did I think i'd be coming home with this guy within a twenty-four hour window:

(took these pictures with my sony ericsson, what a kick ass phone!)

we got him for an AMAZING price as well, and the breeder is also going to re-inburse us for his "fixing".

Last night he had a bit of an "oops" in the house, and after showing him and telling him "NO", this mornig to my surprise he woke me up to go outside and take a GIANT piss.

I think we made the right choice..

    :)

crate training has become our friend :)

my wife wants to name him Nanuk, which is fine with me.. it's eskimo for polar bear.

I told my wife I wanted to call him "enzo" lol.. she almost went along with it. So the dog's full name is "Nanuk Enzo Love"

    how great is that?

Beautiful pup! Glad to see that you got him from a reputable breeder. It seems that each time Disney or anyone else features a particular breed in a movie, backyard breeders pop up to fill the surge in demand. Unfortunately, they breed for the quick buck, not to better the breed in question.

That's great! They're smart dogs, and it's important to use positive reinforcement as much as possible. Congrats on adopting an older puppy--they're harder to place than 8 week-olds. Keep us posted on his progress.

beautiful dog. congrats on the purchase, i am sure you'll have years (decades?) of enjoyment

not to detract from the point of the thread, but what kind of phone do you have? i have been in the market for a new one for quite some time now and the camera on your phone seems amazing

Sadly, the news is that we just got off the phone with the breeder as well.. and this dog is being down right viscious. We've both been around puppies, and raised them (on my part) and after describing everything that we have encountered with this puppy in the past 24 hours the breeder thinks there may be a chemical unbalance.

The reason why is while my wife was walking him, he got VERY aggressive, and snapped at her hands.. as well as her FACE. The breeder told us we were doing everything right, but it just seems this dog is not meant to be around people. It's also harder for us as well because he's already past 4 months of age.. so having to turn him around completely from what the original owners were doing wrong as well as having to overcome this is nearly impossible.

we feel horrible, and my wife's crying over the situation as well. We want to keep him with EVERY ounce of our body, but having a dog that can completely pull a 180 as far as his attitude goes at any given moment, and not knowing if he's going to lick or bite your hand is FAR too much of a struggle to try and overcome with him. The breeder is going to take him back, and raise him and see how he develops.

We're still going to be going with our original choice (the red/white liter that's available in four weeks).

    :(

Wow, that's a crusher for sure...... I know how tied I am to my cats, I mean, if I had to choose between my 2 cats or an Enzo, gosh, I'd sure miss that car, but my cats are my life.
We almost lost one of the cats when he was two, I cried every night for two weeks, but he recovered (not sure if I have, and it's been 5 years).

Who is that dog trainer guy in LA ? I think he wrote a book or two on how to change a dog's personality as far as aggressiveness is concerned, maybe that's worth a shot... He's on TV once in awhile.

I'm definitely not an expert, but it appears that this dog is confused about who the Alpha members of the household are. He seems to think that he's top dog and must be shown that in fact you and your wife are the alphas. Since he's now more than four months old, this presents a lot of challenges due to his size. If you felt like taking on the challenge, I would advise turning the dog over on his back (submissive position for a dog) often and then rewarding him with praise and attention. In theory the dog will learn that you are in control by placing him in a submissive position. In reality, it's often easier said than done. Good luck, I know this is a hard decision for you and your wife.
