I'm usually down at Captree early Sunday with the 328. This early in the season action is at the fishing fleet boat basin eastern end of ocean parkway. If you come down the Robert Moses you have to head west a mile or so on Ocean Parkway and do a 180 at turn around due to construction/repair on overpass. Coffee shop is open. Be sure you have front plate in place as cops can be ballbusters. I'm not into window tint...but then again neither are the cops. While the meet is at the basin you don't have to get there too early as the lots are huge. Later when they move to OBI (toll season) you have to get there early enough to see dawns crack to find a spot. Turnout varies , mostly Vettes and musclecars but a mix of everything else. Usually a few F cars. Gonna make Sag one day this summer for a change.
I've been wondering the same thing since getting my 328 a few weeks ago, where do the Ferrari people get together? How late do they stay at captree? Do the cops really hassle people over front plates? what a drag! I don't even think there is a place to mount one on my car!
They make screw in brackets that mount to your tow hook receptacle. I have one for my 355. Not sure if they make one for a 328 but I would think they do. Drive to Captree with the plate on, then unscrew it when you get there. Make sure you remember to put plate back on for the trip back home.
i was at captree yesterday.. not as many cars as i thought, i got there at 9:30am... i was in a white 458, if anyone else was there
There's a couple of removable ones available. I run with this one developed by our own ChairPilot Plateclips - License plate mounts for your Ferrari without drilling any holes
I'll be in Sag Harbor all weekend. I don't know the protocol for "coffee & cars" or other meet ups, but the pier is 5 minutes from my house. I guess send me a PM and we can try to get a Sag Harbor/Hamptons area meet up going.
I have a house in East Hampton I'm getting ready for the upcoming rental season so I was thinking of taking the Fcar out there. Would love to meet up Sunday morning if weather is going to be good. Then I'm going to start going to Captree on Sundays going forward when I'm not out there. Bring on the warm weather!!!
I live here. I'll hit the Pier around 9am ish on Sunday. Probably go to golden pear and get some coffee.
I haven't made it out to Captree yet, and I can't make it until the middle of May at this point. I would like to go once I get a chance, can someone please post the details for me (or others that haven't gone yet)? I googled the location, and it looks like there are 4 different parking lots. 3 along the North side, and one on the South side. Which parking lot does everyone meet in? It isn't only Ferrari guys, right? Is there a specific area that all the Ferraris hang out at? Thanks
The meet is in the center lot (North) by the snack stand but spills into the eastern lot if full. Once the toll booth opens for the season, then it's in the Oak Beach Parking lot to the west.
It's a good mix of car's although mostly muscle. Usually a good amount of exotics including Ferrari's, Lambo's and Porsche's. When I've been there it seems the Ferrari guys like to meet in the eastern lot for some reason but I personally like to be in the mix. I hear grumblings from the muscle car guys that the Fcar guys are snobs because they stay separate. State Troopers are everywhere so BEWARE and be sure your front plate is on or you most definitely will get a $165 ticket. Speed limit in the area I believe is 40 mph so drive slooooowwwww!!!
I stopped in at Captree today. I didn't think I would be able to make it, but my daughter had a dance competition less than 10 minutes away, so I took a ride to check out all the cars (I didn't have mine) in between her dances. There were only like 5 or 6 cars there! Did I get there too late? I always heard that it can get packed. I stopped down there around 11:30am.
Still early in the season and cold!!!!!! As the weather gets warmer and warmer the more and more cars show up.
