A Fchater did, bought it several weeks ago, the car was still listed for sale for a few weeks after it was sold
I spoke with the seller on the 9th or November. Sounded like the car was going to go to a local Portland, OR buyer. Not absolutely sure though...
I did. So far, it has been a great car. It's the first Ferrari I have bought which needed nothing after the PPI. Image Unavailable, Please Login
super duper happy thumbs up to you ! .... i cant wait.... i want one sooooooo bad! its nice that someone here has it! many great miles to you! Michael
DonV Congrats on the car ,I was looking at it as well but you beat me to the punch. So you have a 365 and a 512, please would you explain the differances in performance and/or feel between them. Do you forsee maintenance differances as well ? Your input would be appreciated. PM me if you wish. PS what was your second choice?
Congratulations Don. If the Arizona smog laws for the metro Phoenix area werent as draconian for cars of that era, I would have bought the car myself. Enjoy!!
Cool car, DonV. Congrats. This one (injected) might be worth a look, LightGuy - http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-512BBI-39311
Well for starters, the back seats in the 365 are much bigger! Seriously, my 365 is not a Boxer but rather a 365GT 2+2 (see profile for pic). Sometime I will have to get a picture of them together. It's funny, I have never bought a car from outside my local area. I really wasn't looking specifically for a Boxer, but when this one came along I decided it was too nice and too good a deal to pass up. And, the more I looked into Boxers, the more I started to get interested in them. I've even ordered a copy of the Nichols Boxer book from Amazon!
That's like asking which of my kids is my favorite! They're all my favorite, depends on which day it is and which one is not in the shop!
"Interior carpets, seat, dashboard and door panel leather replaced in 2001 but otherwise all original interior" ???????????? What's that leave...original headliner?
Do you guys know if the original BB's that came to the USA had the sidemarkers or were they removed with bodywork? There was Bill's body shop who always took those off when the bodies were re- done.
Tenny : have noticed this car before and seems neat but donv's BB for 20K less seems a very good deal .Thanks.
No Boxers had side markers, just the front turn signal circles in the fender area. Some DOT converters put the side markers in the lower fibreglass panels which is easy to fill and others did it in the aluminum hood and rear deck which requires a aluminum patch.
From what I have seen, many (most?) Boxers have had the side markers removed subsequently removed. I also wonder if many of the driveability issues sometimes cited for carb Boxers related to heat or something from poorly engineered emissions controls? Mine sure doesn't have any driveability issues-- pulls smoothly from low revs, idles happily in traffic, and generally is content to putt around town all day and then go like hell on the way home. It appears that mine never had cats, which was apparently acceptable in 1981.
I would attribute the drivabilty rep issues on carbed Boxers to sitting for long periods, which most Boxers just do is just sit, the fuel gets gummy and clogs the pinholes in idle jets and other areas of the carbs, then the distributor sticks since its a side mount, the car ran perfect then has been sitting 6months you jump in it, suprise it runs poorly. I would agree adding cats, smog pumps and other emmission devices also effects these cars as well.
