I go away for a few hours, fix my plane, and come back and find that Chaparalman's (sp?) thread is closed, after everyone has dumped on the moron? Why was it closed, it was the best entertainment around. What I'd like to know is what rock did he crawl out from? Anyone with any ideas?

Strangly too many threads are being locked/closed lately, like the Jean Todt one. Why all of a sudden does the truth regarding a rumour matter?.

Weird, everybody slagged off McLaren and Alonso (whenever they feel like it) when they knew nothing and still do, but oh my God we start talking about Jean Todt and our pencils and paper are removed. Heck we all happily pick on Massa as a punch bag and that never gets closed :D

Is this site actually run by Ferrari or something? ;) ... and even if it was, just sad for free speech reasons! Remember guys and girls this is a CHAT site not a FACT site :D

it really was the best thread in a LONG time. it was funny, there were some serious moments, there were some very sane posts w/ respect to racing and the politics and cost, there was even a good question regarding the can am car that casey was preping to campaign.

it was great entertainment!! bring it back!!

I had to register to F-Chat just becuase of the F1 thread. Tears flowing down the face. You guys are FUNNY!

I think BriteSideLife/DarkSideStreet/DimLightBulbOn has to be the long lost nefu (nephew) of Hanz & Franz from Saturday Night Live.

I have to agree, it was a pretty entertaining thread.

I feel a little sorry for the guy though, it seems like he thinks he could really be an F1 driver.

I feel for the guy that started the thread...its his peanut gallery of one that took this over the edge.

If he has the personal motivation to get there, a few FerrariChat posters laughing at him won't stop him ... :).

Some people are better at selling themselves than others, and others find it embarrassing to witness others selling themselves ... if that makes sense :D

The Todt thread was (apparently) a baseless rumor. The Casey Putsch one was a bunch of guys (some of whom probably couldn't drive their way out of a wet paper bag) piling on a poor SOB so that they could feel superior to him and have a laugh at his expense. I'm glad that they were both closed. A few more threads like those two and I won't be renewing my subscription.

actually, he did seem to be driver (if not owner) of a very nice looking lotus 11. that seemed to be overlooked by many while we were lambasting him.

that is a jewel like little race car that needs no apologies!

that said...a long way from a current or even historic f1 ride!

I think some people just took it a little to far. Most of us know that 16 is pretty old to start an F1 career attempt, let alone 26.
Reason why they closed it: Probably because they were harassing the thread starter and his fanatical fan who can't spell.

Casey got owned because he showed up here begging for money.

Simple as that. Buh bye and see you at the track Casey! Looking forward to it!

I am actually glad the thread closed. I was starting to develop chest pains from laughing, I fear a heart attack at 21!

He actually seemed like a decent bloke, took it all in his stride. Deluded about his skills though.

The full sick drifter was gold though, especially with his "manager" SWB.

The Todt thread should have been left open to make sure everyone knew it was a baseless rumor.

First time I opened the F1 thread it was just a few posts deep. The guys website (photo's) and story seemed strange but decided to stay out. Just read up on the 12pages though... I really don't remember when I last laughed so hard. His mad tite supporter fan was just in a league of his own. Amazing...

Only question I still have is this... does Pilotti Putsch really believe it (he's heading to F1)? or is he just looking for some free money to fund local racing? I'm siding with the former, which means the man is delusional.

I agree with that. Let the man have dreams.....but as soon as he would start talking, he'd start asking for sponsorship again. It really was a slightly better attempt at getting money than the ones we used to see in the Business section before it went subscribed only.

I think the funniest part of the whole deal is that guy BrightSideLife. Although he clearly was over the top intentionally just to keep things going, two facts stand out.
    1. He had another post about seeing some concept Enzo or something that was equally as absurd, and
    2. (best of all) the self promotion video he put together was NOT made yesterday, so his claims to be a racer of some renown are likely only half tongue in cheek.

I may not be much of a race driver but at least I can write... :p

Coming on the site, claiming to have big money backers from Europe wanting to make him the next American F1 star, despite having little in the way of experience or achievement on the track or being the advanced age of 26, is a little ridiculous, don't you think?

Compounding that with PR photos that look like an ad from Blueboy magazine and posting the single most pompous and laughable video I have ever seen, is simply begging for ridicule.

I thought that thread was the single funniest one we have had on this site in the past year. I laughed so hard that I spit coffee through my nose.
