Ferrari can't build a fast car. Sorry. It started with the 348. The damn thing was so slow, they had to invent the "challenge" series. It couldn't compete with other cars. It carries over today.

The later stuff, 458, 488 is much more competitive and on the level, but it took them almost 30 years to compete with the equivalent race corvette or Porsche.

Especially since most of the Ferraris seem to be caged in garages by speculators. Sad :(

I think all out top speed records (for oem street legal cars) is completely ridiculous just because there are so few places on earth it can even be tested, never mind a customer actually doing it.
They should just pick a standard, (200, 220, whatever but reasonable) like 0-60. Lot's of cars can do 200 mph, but some get there much quicker than others.

What about transmission gearing? If you're gearing an eight speed trans to top out at 267 mph, wouldn't it be better performance wise if you were gearing/spacing for say 225 mph top speed?
New hyper cars have so much power and torque that it probably doesn't matter though, right?

Easy to make a slow car go fast. Much much harder to make a fast car go slow. Needs special kevlar banded tires which are lousy at slower speeds. Showcases what is technically possible which is no small engineering feat, even if a bit impractical.

The other question is, of course, how many owners have the skill and reflexes to drive any of these cars at 200+ mph?
