    Tom,
It was great meeting you...gorgeous Dino you have there! I got a Concorso Ferrari 3rd place award, an FCA Platinum award (my first!) plus FCA's "Dino Award"...super happy with my participation results...thanks to all Dino FChatter's for their knowledge to make our Dino's the best they can be.

I counted a total of (13) Dino's at Concorso; (12) in our Dino class (2 of which were auction Dino's...the $425k chairs & flares, and the $330k red Russo&Steele Dino) plus the SF Ferrari Dino at their nearby tent. What a great collection of Dino colors as well...1st time I've seen a black Dino, and there were (3) of them. This was 50% more Dino's than last year's CI event.

I wish I had stayed in Carmel/Monterey the entire week to take advantage of more activities...unfortunately the property I have there was rented out. I made (3) separate trips during the week; Carmel Concours (Mon/Tues), PB Tour, Auction previews & Concorso Italiano (Thur/Fri), plus Laguna Seca historics (Sat). Way less mileage on my Dino than yours, still very tiring, but soooo much fun!

P.S. Your red carpet treatment was just outside my favorite coffee shop in Carmel.

Yes, and the Grigio Ferro is a fantastic color. It's incredible how big all the new cars are now. Thank you Tom for the map and the photos. Glad that you had fun with your Dino and friends.

Great photos, Tom - as always!

I wish I could have joined you for the trip up the coast, but there was no way I could make it back to the US in time for Monterey this year. I am still "over here" for another month or so. But very nice to see the pictures. Glad to hear that the trip was enjoyable and that everything went well.

Your car looks completely appropriate on the red carpet! I can imagine that it attracted lots of attention. Beautiful!

Thanks for the photo post, Tom. Your car is a star wherever it makes an appearance, and I'm sure that it was very well received at Concorso Italiano. Fred

We did the coast route as 05082 has no A/C and Tour d'Elegance on Thursday was easily the best part of the weekend to see the glorious vintage cars in action.

Tom, looks like you know the best places to park in Carmel too ... chuckle
How is it we were so close yet never together? LOL

    Congratulations Ron, this is huge!
BTW, I skipped CI because I anticipated another clutch-wearing-uphill-ingress-debacle like in years past. Was it easy to get in/out of CI this year?

The route into CI both last year and this does not involve past clutch burning/bumper bumping inclines I've heard about...I think CI learned from tons of complaints!

I was probably only 1-2 blocks away from Tom's red carpet appearance, having a rooftop dinner waiting out traffic heading north. I wonder if he and his wife were in appropriate red carpet attire? Scott, you were lucky you didn't get a ticket for taking up two spaces.

As I told Matthias, my Dino's advances are largely attributed to my own pursuit (or is it obsession?) to improve it and especially to the generous and serious knowledge base on this forum.

It sure was, but it left for RM right after judging was completed. It was positioned 2 spots down from the silver GTS.

This is like a Marx Brothers movie revolving door chase!
"One comes in and another goes out..." LOL

Truth is the weekend is so packed with fun things and so many old friends to see it is excusable. I really think we need to get the Dino crowd together for a group dinner next year,

I suggest Rocky Point where our Maserati Club used to meet in the 80's and 90's

Best of all, does everybody know that the FCA Nationals return to Monterey in 2015? I'll join the FCA just to be a part of that experience with my Dino...which by then will hopefully be stiff competition for the other Dino exhibitors.

    Yes,
reason stated for deviating from the standard 10 year span for Ferrari featured marque of 1984, 1994, 2004, ... is that FCA Nationals are in the SW Region for this year, Palm Springs, and they didn't want the events too close together

The Dino is in the garage. Front and windshield still covered with bugs. Dirt, dust, brake dust everywhere. Trunk still full with travel gear. If anyone is contemplating a real drive with their Dino I highly recommend it. No better way it get intimate with your car for some bonding. Man and machine alone on the highway.

From what I recall from the pictures of your garage, I'm surprised it allowed the Dino back in before a good cleaning!

Speaking of bonding I got to meet some new "friends" in SLO that were attracted to the Dino.
Had some 'splainin to do ... notice how close his hand is to that TASER and how nervous my wallet is

Great shots Tom! I really like the last shot of the Dino on the red carpet looking out toward the street. Thank you for posting these shots. I'm really glad I was part of your team. When's your next road trip?

My wife Rachel and I have just finished a sympathetic restoration for a "garage find" 1972 Dino GTS with 24,000 miles on the odometer (chassis #4000). One owner, original paint and interior, was not moved for over 25 years or started for a decade. We kept the patina (frankly, what little there was) but made it safe and reliable to drive (thanks to Rod Drew at FAI in Costa Mesa and Mike Sheehan). If there is a contingent of Dino owners going to Pebble Beach in 2013, we would like to be included. Thanks.

Congratulations Mike and Rachel on your recent restoration. If I plan to drive again next year I will surely post to let any and all know, the more the merrier. I would love the idea of a 'convoy' since it great to see our cars in motion, builds great comradery, and most importantly there's a better chance someone will know why my car won't start or how to fix that clutch cable in the middle of nowhere :). Book a room now!

You guys should start a new thread introducing #4000 and your recent work to the group. We love this stuff.

    All the best,

    Tom
