Hey everyone I'm from Orange County, CA.
I'm making plans to visit my friend in New York the last week of this month.
My friend who is also from OC just moved to Brooklyn to do his residency for Med School. (staying with him)
He isnt very familiar with the areas of New York yet.
I would greatly appreciate any input on where I should visit.

I'm a college student in my early 20's.
So advice on clubs and bars would also be great.

I really would appreciate any ideas. Thank you!

    thank you for everyone replies
    I really appreciate it.
I don't know what part of Brooklyn he lives in but I will call him today and find out.

I'm really into design (Architecture, Fashion, Art)

A friend of my parents daughter was a designer for Calvin Klein
and she gave me her number..saying anytime I was in town I could come check out
    the studio.
But I can't find her business card ANYWHERE!

So thats not happening it seems...
But that was an example of what I Wanted to do.

Of course the lounges and Clubs you guys recommended sounds great.
I have heard alot about pink elephant!

Any chance of getting into these places
if you aren't going to get a table?

Looks like the trip is being put off for about a month.
More of my friends want to go all together as a group trip.
Plus it should be a better trip once my friend gets to know his area
    of Brooklyn.
He told me the name of the area
    I just keep forgetting :)

Except for the fact that plane tickets are so cheap
right now to New York, I think going in a big group
    will be alot more fun.

I really really appreciate people reading my post
    and posting.
    Thanks again!!

no bottles or a ****load of women with you means no entrance at most good clubs. bottles run $500 a bottle after gratuity with a 2-4 bottle minimum depending on how many people you have with you. go early and you'll have your best chance of getting in.

Ditto. If ur clubbing/lounging on a budget earlier you go the better odds of getting in.

Since you will be here in the summer check out some of the roof-top bars like 230 on 5th ave, Jade Terrace Lounge @ China Club, and few other I can't think of. Techno/Dance/Eletric Check out Pacha, other famious places are Buddha Bar, Duvet, Slates, Mansion (thought the one in Miami is WAY better),
