SolarStratos ? To the edge of space

 

...to fly in the stratosphere, or to separate men from their money?

 

I remember several years ago the Concorde was offering "rides" out of HNL for $1,000. They were advertising a dark sky during the daytime, and that you could see the curvature of the Earth. Kind of wish I went.

 

Yup. I saw this Be Part of it ? SolarStratos and i start to wonder...

 

Why spend 55,000 EU on the Stratosphere, when you can go to Mars for $200,000 ?

Yeah, BFD. Take a plane ride to 59,000 feet. I have fighter pilot buddies that did that on the QT 20 years ago, for free. Red Bull sent a man in a balloon to 120,000 feet.

For comparison, USAF does not award an airman an Astronaut rating until he/she goes to 50 miles (264,000').

 

I thought they said 70,000'
