This movie (although a remake) I think was so misunderstood.

I noticed a scene of awesome symbolism towards the end that I think was crucial to the appreciation of this film's message.

Each passenger's visitor not only represented a loved one, but the passenger's mind and 'life' itself ( I take this from the indestructibility of the visitors)

In the end there is a shot where the ship is drifting into Solaris and Clooney is knocked over laying on his side. He's approached by one of the Visitor's (a child). They reach out to eachother and almost perfect resemble 'the Creation of Adam' by Michelangelo.

Although it was oddly different. You couldn't tell whom was creating who. Which character was god, which the 'created'.

I really enjoyed this as there was really no religious aspect to the movie.

    My 2 cents.

    I also liked the movie.
I like all space related movies.

You should see Sunshine. Shooter was also good.

I watch a lot of movies.

I've been meaning to see this movie but always seem to forget about it when I'm out shopping for DVDs... I have a feeling if you liked it you might also like The Fountain. Finally got around to seeing that about a month ago and haven't gotten it out of my head. Truly amazing flick.

    +1
Fountain is a really odd movie, I liked how it was very haphazard at first and ultimately came to a more discrete point (at least to me) near the end. Right before everything clicked, I was honestly on the verge of just ending the movie because it felt like it was moving so slow (when infact, it wasn't!).

I saw the film when I was about 13, so I completely misunderstood it. I should watch it again.
