Background, have owned a blue Scaglietti for about 2 years. Was originally planning on changing in 6-9 months time, however the perfect spec came up at a price I was OK with, so after a test drive, I put my deposit down.

I ended up buying one of the ex-UK press cars. Mileage is decent enough and the car spec was loaded. Triple layer Rosso paint, full seats, painted dash, full entertainment system. The alloys and interior would be my choice if I were to spec a car myself.

I'm gonna try compare the experience moving from the 612 to the FF:
    - the car feels more stuck to the road and I'm more confident hitting corners at higher speeds
    - build quality is solid throughout and chunky. It has that German build quality feel. The 612 had some dainty switches (mirrors and windows) you had to treat with kid gloves.
    - the engine and exhaust are monstrous. The car has that F1 scream which gets more and more crazed as you put your foot down. The 612 in comparison builds up to a thundering crescendo of pistons. I would say that the 612 is more 'gentlemanly' about it.
    - DCT is smooth. The car seems to be able to handle a higher speed in 1st gear. Going through a tunnel in 1st gear doing 40+mph with the windows down has to be experienced!
    - it feels slightly wider and lower than the 612, so I'm more careful with the nearside and take speedbumps much more slowly to start with. Otherwise you'd feel right at home in the car. There's very little adjustment required.
    - rear seats are more spacious and upright
    - cup holders!
    - starting up the engine on the FF is a proper event. The sound is amazing.
    - turns a lot more heads, but maybe because it's red instead of blue.

Overall, the 612 is restrained in more stately and elegant way. The FF is a more purer and raw Ferrari experience both in terms of looks and performance. The 612 is ready to play when you are, whereas the FF is there to egg you on all the time. I'll miss the 612. It's a solid dependable car. Always started first time and never broke down once.

Planning to do some longer road trips in the FF, but really happy with it so far.

Wonderful spec. The bicolor standard wheels are the best choice to go with that fantastic red - which I think is Rosso Maranello. Can you confirm?

Beautiful car - good for you - I also have a 612 and have thought the same thing as u - had a deposit at the dealer in the spring and the same weekend my wife got into a car accident in an SUV and we had to cancel and look after her -she is fine now so we will be back in - with an FF or an F12 - how could u lose with either!

Stepping out of the 458 into the FF, there is much that is familiar in the FF but huge differences as well. The controls are virtually the same. The V12 has much greater low speed torque so the gears are spaced quite a bit further apart. The FF's steering has the same 'feel' but is of course not nearly as quick as the 458. The ride is more supple but not soft. And of course that long nose is like looking down the deck of an aircraft carrier. The car gives you the impression that it will do anything you want it to do and without effort or fanfare except for the roar. I would not liken it to a GT car. The FF is much more taut and precise. I really don't know of another car I would compare it to.

Yes, the colour is Rosso Marenello. Looks absolutely stunning.

I agree that the FF shares more DNA from its 2 seater brethren, whereas the 612 felt more standalone.
