    Just an update. The problem ended up being a dirty pot or reostat (not sure which it realy is) that dims or brightens the dash lights. A simple cleaning cured it. Seems the quick changes in voltage when they would flicker also made the needles jump. Problem solved

    You cleaned the external pot leads or you cleaned inside the pot itself?

    took the whole dash pod to a techno geek friend.. He just told me the pots were dirty and that he cleaned them. I also cleaned all the connectors while reinstalling it.
