Solving a rubicks cube looks pretty impressive, but its actually fairly easy to do once you learn the technique. All it takes is a bit of memorization.

I saw a short documentary about the fastest "cubers" in the world a few months ago, so i asked for a rubicks cube for christmas to see if i could do it. It took me a few hours to first solve it, and I quickly became addicted to it, solving it every day trying to get faster and faster for a couple of weeks. I haven't really been doing it as much since coming back to school this semester, but interestingly, a friend of my roommate holds the canadian record for fastest solve. He was actually in the documentary we watched. This canadian record holder came to our house last weekend for a kegger and I got him to show me how he solves it so fast. The advanced technique that he uses is way too complex for me but using it, he is able to occasionally solve the cube in under 10 secs.

Using the most basic technique available, my best time is 2mins 14secs.

Here is the youtube video i watched to learn how to do it, the technique shown in the video is the one i use...go out and get a cube and see how fast you can do it :)

Back in the 80's I worked with a guy that would routinely solve it behind his back in just a few minutes.

They do disassemble, and stickers are *removable. Reverse process to lay claim to solve.

Quickest solution was also final -

Blew mine to smithereens with a shotgun. To be precise, a 12 Gauge Mossberg.... at very, very close range.

    * If you wish to baffle your so-called friends - put colors on corners that don't belong together.

Me and a buddy in college memorized the secret to solving it. His fastest time was 2 min and mine was 2 min 15 sec. The fun part was the getting to the first step, which was solving one color and at the same time the first row of all the other colors. After that it was all just memorization and speed. It was a great trick to show at parties tho!

Hmmm..I knew there were a few variations, but I've never seen the pyramid before.

There's also a 4 by 4 cube and a 5 by 5 cube, as well as various other random shapes.

On a side note, heres some ferrari content with rubik's cube solving in the video...apparently this guy's not bad at life lol...

Sounds like a sweet party. What were "women" doing that night?

I used to break mine apart. 25 years ago, when the first "expert solvers" began to surface, I was afraid of turning into one of them if I kept trying.

i can consistently solve it in 3 minutes. Once you know the 5 memorized moves, it's a no brainer. I'm teaching my 7 year old son... he can solve most of it... that's after a 30 min lesson.
