When I bought my 1978 308 GTB the tool set was almost complete. I was only missing the ratchet and its extension tool. Unfortunately some tools were stolen from my garage a few months ago. Now I was also missing the jack, emergency triangle, wheel nut wrench and that strange tool (for the sprak plugs?), see first picture. Luckily thanks to F-Chat member Greyboxer I've got the set almost complete again, save the strange tool. Is it made of unobtanium? The box for the emergency triangle is a light green (see second picture). The original one that was stolen was a darker green, I think the same as the lid of the small container for the light bulbs (see third picture). If anyone wants to trade please let me know. While we're at it, it would be nice to get the whole tool set nice and shiny again. I don't mind a bit of elbow grease but would like to know how to get those rusty stains out of the tool rol and of the tools themselves? Didn't know about the reflective triangle, my car has two red electric lights that apparently plug into teh power socket under the dash. Dunno if they came with teh car or not, but they were in teh trunk in 1984 when i bought the car. I am missing the carb tool and little can that holds light bulbs. Doug
There's a thread somewhere here about how to get the carb tool (didn't Big Tex tell you at the end of September last year) and the official ferrariparts.co.uk used to have loads of the green bulb pot for sensible money
Yes, he said some manifold place or such for the carb tool, the person I got on the phone there didn't know what I was talking about and I never pursued it any further, as it isn't that important. Doug
Soaking the tools in a mild solution of muriatic acid will remove the rust. A bead blaster with walnut shell media would work too but does not get into the nooks and crannies as well. If you go the acid route get them dry and lightly oiled right away after removal. With a rag and rubber gloves it might work on the bag as well but that would be my last resort effort.
