I give those pics my multiple O Face! You have multiple orgasms?
Well.. considering that he's owned several Fcars (not sure if they were bought there or not) and had at least the 355C maintained there, I think he has a pretty good relationship with the staff. Aside from that, at their old location I was allowed to wander around the garage as much as I wanted to. I've only been to the new location once, but was only there for a few minutes just before closing to pick some stuff up so I didn't bother with the garage. I'm sure they get dozens of people wandering in every day now just to look around though, and if I were them, I'd get tired of every Jim-Bob stopping by asking for open access to the shop too. I wouldn't take it personally... -R
Bought both my F cars from them and am friends with most of the staff. However that being said they are pretty good about letting people look at the cars. They actively encourage you to look around the showroom but I am not sure about the garage. Being a long time customer I can get into the garage anytime I want. I am waiting for the race team to get back from Daytona to get a peek at the new Maserati race cars in the race shop. Will post pics when I get them. Regards, Jon
Those really are great shots. By the way those cars all get USED at the race track - they are not Garage Queens. I bought my F car at FoW and I did in large part because of the great welcome all of those folks give you. One of the most senior guys explained that most everyone there really loves what they do and they want to share that. I went to parties and Trackdays with those folks pre F car and they treated me just as if I had bought 10 575s from them. When I went to show my girlfriend the 355 I was thinking about the salesman instead gave us the the tour of the race shop because he knew Beth would think that was cool. He was correct, by the way. It is a great big club, not just a car store.
IMO the "key" to FoW is that they race, makes it a much more interesting, enthusiast oriented shop. Sure, it's not a charity, they're selling cars, but they also just flat out "get it." Pretty amazing to have a factory dealership that can work on race cars.
y'know, prancing horse, you're right. For an area with two counties having among the highest per capita incomes in the country (Fairfax and Montgomery; I guess Loudoun, too), you really don't see very many Ferraris. I live in south Arlington and work at Foggy Bottm, so maybe they're all out in the suburbs . . .
Nice choice of colors - I think I remember you debating on which color to get - Hope to see some pics when it arrives!
rjklein, A Daytona Comp is worth around 1.5M$ You can buy a Daytona Comp repro for 200k$ ...and they look amazing
Planning to go back to FOW (need to drop some stuff off) on Monday and plan to take a few dozen more pictures. Also hoping the Maserati #33 Race car is back from Daytona. Will post the pictures on F Chat next week. I think WCH has it spot on. FOW is owned by people who were former customers of the dealership when it was owned by another organization. They bought the dealership and all of them are racers and race fanatics. Many of the people in both sales and service have been there a long time and they don't treat you like a customer but a friend. Check back for the pictures. Regards, Jon
