I agree. Maserati will use a V8 and make a luxury/sport crossover with it. If they don't, they're idiots.
I agree that's the right thing to do but it might be too expensive. They may use some Chyrsler/Jeep parts. I just hope they use a Maserati engine. The heart of an Italian car is the motor.
The FF body is just killing me ... I just can not believe Ferrari was so worried about people in the backseat they designed the entire rear around that concern. At the end of the day - Ferrari engineering is expensive to maintain and those stats are not that great. These systems are so advance I pause at the cost at owning one 3-4 years down the road. I could live with expensive maintenance but in comparison to a woman she has to be worthy of the expense.
The Body design is a bit of a hurdle, I will say , However, that there are a lot of design ques that ppl are not really noticing yet, It will be the little things like the rear under spoiler , the side outlet vents and the curves of the design that will change some perspective buyer's minds when seeing it in the flesh(which I have not). At first release, I was not a fan at all of this vehicle, but already it is starting to grow on me, I think in the long run it will fall into the Porsche Panamera category of, Either you hate it or love it. But , I dont' think anyone will debate some of the engineering feats of the car. FYI, The Four wheel drive component was actually patented 6 years ago by Ferrari, Think about that for a moment, Six years ago they came up with this design and waited this long to put it into the right car, That says something about the efforts that they put into making a successful 4wd. Still checking on the Accel numbers. And I have no firm price point yet, The guy mentioned 300's to start and 400's nicely equipped.....but add dealer cut, delivery/destination fee, yada yada yada, I bet you won't see one retailed and in someone's garage for less than 400
I heard that the 4WD system is deactivated when the Manettino is in race mode, is this accurate? I just hope someone orders with in TdF/Cuoio so I can snap it up in the distant future.
I was going to say the same thing about the 4WD system, I think Ferrari has put a lot of R&D into it. With how well the dual clutch systems have been getting on I don't think there will be a problem, plus the flagship Ferraris can't be finicky like the supercars. The new markets they will outreach to wouldn't tolerate annoying teething problems. You are correct, in race mode it is completely RWD
I agree ... the FF will tap 400 easily but everyone gets upset with that number. Ferrari should offer the Enzo replacement to the buyers of the FF ... it is only fair!!!!!
i dunno 400K is alot of cash for a car given what else u can get....i dont care how functional something is an f40 is an f40 and a CGT is a CGT...the right price for the 612/FF is 250 to 300....400 is another territory....
I know the base will be under $300k inc delivery, gas guzzler and dealer prep. Between $270K and $285K is guidance. Most certainly less than 612 base.
Just curious how you know? The base for the flagship 12 cylinder 4wd 4 seater is only going to list for 50k more than a 458 I highly doubt it
Agree - totally sick of his pointless designs that lack originality. Prefer the designs that come out of the design competitions that Ferrari run - there you see some interesting ideas. The sketches of FF variants we keep seeing in other threads are a big yawn - but that's just my opinion. David
In 2009 .... my guess 2010 612 added 3-5% = 330 / 340 base? Placing the FF at 325? Regardless out the door has to be pushing upper 3's Heck.. the Sessenta was 400k plus BASE MODEL SPECIFICATIONS: 2009 Vehicle type: front-engine,4 passenger, 2 Door coupe Drivetrain: 5.7-liter V12, 540hp @ 7250rpm, 434 lb-ft @ 5250 rpm, 6-speed manual, rear wheel drive Curb weight: 4056 lbs Base price: $320,068 USD
Not the flagship for long. Remember that I said under $300K base when prices are announced at Geneva in March. Future pricing will put the 599 successor higher than the FF. The relationship between 599 next gen and FF is akin to 458 to California.
I remember ... so again - how do you know under 300k? The next 599 will be awd ... again how do you know? Let me understand your post ... a two seater is going to be more than a four seater with the same under carriage and engine and be the flagship? Ur confusing me more than the FF exterior
Let me clarify , I did not say the 599 will be 4 wheel drive merely the pricing relationship between the FF and the 599 successor will reverse the pricing relationship between the 612 and 599. The FF aims at a/ significant more volume than 612 b/ like California it is aimed at significant % of none Ferrari owners Finally regarding price I happened to be at the Premiere on the 22 Feb and found it difficult not to speak to senior Ferrari executives. Let's leave it at that for the time being shall we.
ok ... so some quick questions ... Why are you absent in the owners forum? You posted pics of your 458 and you have residences in both Cali and Florida so you can have that 12 month driving experience ... you can't tell me not one person between all those residences that no one on f-chat could verify your 458. Tell me about your Healey as I own a 3000 ... do you have tulip gears or? I put in a Smitty's. Did I misunderstand a post ... you previously saw the FF at the Aperta preview? Wow very cool
This is beyond ridiculous and too personal. It is demeaning and does not merit a response to a Gaddafi like rant. Please have the courtesy to having your facts straight. 1/The Aperta I photographed was at the FF premiere Feb 22nd. 2/The 300MK 111 was restored to Concours and has a BMC factory record certificate HT/2003/4146 3/I live in New Mexico and Florida not CA 4/ Plenty on Fchat could verify my 458. In fact there is a photo of it in a recent Piloti issue, winning a display prize at St Armand's Circle FL.with ownership details. 5/I am a member of the Ferrari Owners Club and a Director of the West Florida Region 6/Sorry that you were not one of the 9 US owners invited to Maranello for the FF World Premiere. Let's leave it there because the next post I make will be to our Administrators
Rant ... hardly Too personal to ask why you are not a member of the owners forum? You seem to have valued information so - I thought why not join the OF. Feel free to contact whomever you wish. I think the personal part is silly as I place pictures of my home and family on f-chat. To each his own enjoy the 458
On one hand the guy brags about going to events on the other I am disturbing his privacy by asking about his posts ... oh well ... the bright side is my new neighbor has ordered a FF. He is on his second 612 and loves the 2+2 V12's. He is pretty well connected to Ferrari and should be among the first to receive the FF. Unless he is fibbing there is no price list published. Having a 430 - 458 and FF on the way should make for a good neighbor.
Back on topic... If the FF price comes out with a 4 handle, to me, thats GTO territory. My only question is which would be the higher performance or more desirable car: the GTO or the FF? On the one hand the FF has more recent technology (4wd etc) but the GTO is perhaps a little closer to the no compromises supercar that brought many of us to Ferrari in the 1st place. Anyone agree/disagree with this comparison?
