Some Free Detail Spray!!

I am currently at the FCA National Meet in NY at the moment so I cannot get to it until Saturday. By the way, there are some nice cars here and I will get some photos up.

Check this out! I was at the FCA meet and I was talking to a gentleman on Wednesday night and he wanted to try the detail spray for the event for the following day. He bought a bottle and I found him at the event. He was very excited about how his car looked after using the Deep Detail. Some others were gathered with him found where my booth was and bought the Swax resin and a BUNCH of detail spray. The following are the pics of his 512BB. One from a distance with the hood up with a reflection of the building across the street. The second is a very close shot of that reflection in the hood. Notice how sharp the reflection looks in the details of everything. He didn't have time to apply the Swax resin so this is only the spray for these shots.

Detail spray is essentially a light coating to be used as either a gloss enhancer or a product that can be used as a quick restorer to sun beaten wax. With traditional carnuaba wax as the base, it should only be applied if the surface is cool. Many of these sprays are very different from one another. Some contain silicones some contain carnuaba derivatives or a combination of both but all will cause streaking if applied in direct sunlight in to large of an area. This is simply caused by the suspension components evaporating to quickly and you get an inconsistent spread of the product. Hope this helps.

 

You will not find much cleaning capability with Deep Detail as it does not contain any heavy solvents used as drying agents. Most silicone based sprays have solvents that can actually clean a little because some of the component material is actually a little aggressive. The major difference you will notice is that the Deep Detail will not grease up on you and will not accumulate dust as will the other products. It dries completely and leaves no greasy residues. The observation of the Deep Detail being less greasy is correct as it contains no atomizing silicones. If it is applied to a carnauba type product that has been exposed to the direct sun a few times, it will remove some of the spent wax and in some cases would need to be reapplied in that area. Its original intent was to be used in concert with the resin product Deep Swax as a maintenance product but its stand alone use has proven quite impressive. If there are water spots that are in the existing wax or silicone polymer, Deep Detal is not designed to remove them. If for any reason the water spots show up on the Deep Swax product, they are easily removed with Deep Detail.

Deep Detail will easily keep its gloss a lot longer than the products it was compared to.

Deep Detail does have a great spray pattern. I just don't care for the flat cap on top of the sprayer. Its not very tight. I will change it but only if I can find the same spray pattern.

One of the major differences between Deep Detail and Z8 is the material method we use for surface enhancement. The longevity that can be achieved with a spray on product that can cause electrostatic interactions (ionic bonds, Z8) with the material that it is applied to, is actually quite good for a stand alone use. I am not going to go into any specific material detail, that would not be correct to do. But the conditions in which these materials can have optimal performance can vary to a pretty good degree. Once a material is cross linked the process of doing so is irreversible and certain circumstances will cause parts of this chain to deteriorate. With these types of appearance products the primary killer is heat and direct light exposure. There are certain amounts of the polymer material that will remain, mostly silicones. These materials will not remain in a solid form and will begin to smear if moved around and will begin to capture dust particulate. The day in day out of heat then cool over a period of time WILL change the material on the surface. Zaino, smartly, has gone through the process of adding cross linked material instead of just straight silicones to their spray product and this will slow the process of deterioration. With Deep Detail we have a different strategy. Although we have seen light use vehicles have the surface appearance remain outstanding for 2-3 months, we do not regard this product as a sealant or cleaner in any way. We sourced materials that would give us the highest level of clarity we could achieve. In doing so we found a material that fit the criteria but also had some interesting durability. It is a stand alone material and requires no cross linking or covalent bonding to maintain its appearance. It is so tight and flat when dry that it has an almost silky feel to the surface. We were going for the look and not the longevity but ended up with surprising durability any way. This comes from the material not being very heat sensitive and not remaining fluid after applied thus not collecting floating contaminants. The very strong sealant we designed, Deep Swax, relies on the same principle of clarity but that product has its own explanation.

When a vehicle finish is well cared for and has no wax on it at all, it can maintain an amazing gloss for a long time if the paint quality is excellent. You have seen it, the guy who does nothing but carefully washes the car by hand and meticulously dries it and the car looks fantastic. No wax, no fancy polymers. You have seen when a freshly painted car is wet sanded and finish compounded and it looks dripping wet with nothing on the surface as well. The paints are relatively hard and very clear. Coatings (waxes, polymers, etc.), although very thin, can cause light refraction and that is what we wanted to stay away from so as to have the best clarity. We simply wanted the surface to look like it was freshly painted, or better, without causing any clouding as these materials slowly deteriorated. The combination of the sealer product, Deep Swax, and the spray fluid, Deep Detail, creates a finish that I would put up against any other product.

I will reiterate this once again, Zaino makes an excellent product. I will not discount them. I am sure you can appreciate that and I appreciate your brand loyalty more than you know. I am new to the industry and I hope to create the same, as we have been able to do so far. There is so much crap in fancy bottles with slick and deceptive marketing out there. I am glad that they approach the market like we do: produce a quality product and let the performance speak for itself. Our differences are simply in material strategy and I feel I have exceeded my goals and objectives for product performance. Deep products do exactly as we say they will. My personal comparisons against another products by name being broadcast tend to make me feel a little uncomfortable. We actually beat the pants off most everything we tested against categorically. And some of these were companies basically made it sound like you could fly your Ferrari though the atmosphere and back and it wouldn't have a dust speck on it.

 

I am not to sure what you mean by slick but I assume you are talking about surface tension. Both the Swax and the Detail are very slick to the touch, especially after they have had a chance to cure completely. Most appropriately in direct sun light (some good UV exposure helps the Swax solidify quickly). They retain this "slick" feel even when in direct sunlight. The Deep Swax product has extreme durability while it maintains its gloss and is very easy to apply. The Deep Detail is also very slick and very easy to use. Both create incredible shine depth and clarity.

The Deep Alume is an aluminum polish that kind of freaks people out when they use it. It is a finishing polish that leaves a protective film over the surface and is very strong. I sell a large volume of Alume to the custom motorcycle and trucking crowd because they work with A LOT of polished aluminum. It is faster and easier to use than anything I have found available. It creates an almost chrome like finish and you only need very small amounts of product to work with. When you apply it, it feels like your rubbing oil on the surface and is not a lot of work to make a beautiful finish. You actually let this metal polish dry completely before you wipe off the residue. That is the opposite of most others. It is just a great product that produces an awesome finish that lasts. You do not need Swax after the Alume product.

If you work with very much chrome at all, Deep Chrome can be used as aggressively as you like and will never scratch. It actually changes the shine depth to make the surface look like the old blue chrome look. Remember, the worst thing you can put on chrome is wax. Most chrome polishes out there are wax based and have the innate ability to scratch.
