Some good deals if you ask me.

Without PPI it's a risk and you can't say it's a good deal.

 

I looked at two of those deals and I wasn't satisified that there wasn't another $15k - $20k of work needed on the car within 12 months. If it were a third car, its probably a decent drive, but I'd rather pony up a little more.

Truth be told, that's what the market is for those cars. There are a lot of owners out there with un-serviced cars asking the serviced price. Without the receipt -knock that price at least $10k.

With a valve-job and major on that 355, that's a $70k ride. And slightly scabby at that.

 

That's not unexpected for a car that's had its passenger side airbag deployed.

 

As they say, "Always buy the best car you can afford." These cars are like the BMW E30M3s in that you pay now or you pay later.

Still, some folks can't afford to go out and buy a $50k 308, even if it is the best example on the market. The real quest is to go into ANY deal with eyes-wide-open and know what you're buying. When I got my 308GTB it had some degree of rust on every (steel) sheetmetal panel. Some hadn't surfaced yet but it was there. I knew that and was prepared to address those issues when the budget permitted. The car was quite affordable because of the weak cosmetic condition but was mechanically sound and an original car. Today, nine years later, the car is restored and worth twice what I paid for it - and perhaps 25% more than I have invested. Then again, a nice safe CD would probably pay about the same.

My point is not that I made a good investment or that any car is a good investment. My point is that I have enjoyed a reasonably priced car for nine years while I restored it, investing in it as my budget allowed. For me, this is a hobby and therefore a journey, not a destination.

ok i give up whats "wrong" with the second 355 (black spider) other than the fact that the 30,000 major is coming up soon.

 

Did I miss where it stated this happened or are you just saying that because of the pass airbag covers condition? I have seen another 355 that was parked outside for one day in the summer, and by the end of the day the same cover was warped similar to that.

 

I agree with Nicksta that the first 355 will need $$. The car looks worn. The 456 looks nice but I don't know that much about 456s 12s
