Thought I would share a few things that I learned, in case it's helpful to others: 1) My app said 11.8V on the 12V battery. That would mean it's dead. The Service manager said not to worry about it, the app is often wrong. Battery and tire pressures are 2 recurring areas 2) Large battery. He told me to never park the car below 3 green bars (2 bars absolute minimum). He said it's a known issue that when very low, a circuit close that prevents the charging the large battery from 110V and then the car needs to be flat bedded to the dealer. Simple solution, never let it go below 3 bars 3) Windshield fluid... for the life of me, even after reading the manual and watching the videos I couldn't figure out where the water was coming from... Then he showed me to 1) push 2 seconds and 2) watch where the wiper had holes where the water was coming from. I was amazed. YMMV
I'll often turn the eDrive mode on for the last several miles of the trip, and park it with a very low High Voltage battery. A message will display, "plug in if long term parking," which of course, I do. Never had an issue. 6 months of ownership so far. I do it for the minor gas saving, less wear on the motor, and to help dissipate some heat (some 20 or 30 degrees) before parking in an enclosed garage. A technician once told me (prior to 296 purchase) that the aforementioned switch existed. The HV battery will help to keep up the LV battery as long as there is sufficient charge available to do so... and long term parking with a mostly depleted HV, off charger, is the source of several issues. We (not electrical engineers) theorized that the transformer / step down / transfer system somehow gets reversed, in that, with a depleted HV battery, the LV battery is drained incredibly quickly trying to recharge the HV system. Of course, this is on top of the typical ferrari parasitic draw. Easy solution- just plug the thing in. Every time. If you MUST go several hours or a few days, then just run it in qualifying to store as much juice as possible in the HV so it doesnt suffer the same issue.
Id also add Ive been advised it’s a good practice to unplug the charger from the electrical socket as well as from the car about every 3 weeks. Apparently, it works best when the processor inside the charger itself resets
Good stuff. I've been driving in Performance mode, then I just plug it in at home regardless of HV battery state. One thing I found while troubleshooting my MyFerrari app issues, is I found the module for the Ferrari Connect telemetry, and it's permanently on. Even when you unplug the module, it's sending data so it has some sort of internal battery on top of getting power from the OBD port. It's reading data straight from an OBD-2 style port by your left knee under the under dash trim. You peel it off and it's there, has two green LEDs, power and sending data/signal strength indicator. So, that must be a minor parasitic drain for sure, reading data every minute and uploading it.
