Finally got myself a digital camera, forgive me if some of the shots are a little weak (I'm still learning this photo posting thing). Attached are a few photos of a portion of my collection...to say it has gotten a little out of control is an understatement (blasted eBay)! I am virtually surrounded by a lot more of this stuff, to the point where I have finally stopped trolling the internet for more... :)

The cam cover is an interesting piece I got from Italy (via eBay). It is a circa early 90's Ferrari F1 cam cover that was never milled (note the lack of holes, save for one, for bolts, plug wires, and the like) must have had a defect of some kind, although I can't find any cracks...I'll post more pics, but I have to clean up the place a little first!

    Very nice.

Is that a 1:8 Pocher F40? Custom-made display case or did you buy that somewhere?

yes, that is a Pocher F40. The case was custom made a number of years ago, unfortunately, the company that made the case is out of business. The car above the F40 is a Toschi Ferrari (1/6 scale) that also has the original liquor and olives bottles, still sealed.

I have more pics of the "collection" that I will post tonight.

Thanks for all the kind comments!

Hi all, a few more pictures to share....The air box is from a '91 Minardi, which I believe at the time was an engine customer of Ferrari's V12s, so who knows, perhaps this air box once belonged on a Ferrari? The air box is signed by Pierluigi Martini. who drove for Minardi in '91. The exhaust manifold is from a Jordan EJ12...

    Cheers,

I built the garage diorama from a kit a number of years ago, it is 1/18th scale. I can't recall the kit manufacturer but I bought it from a Web site (autofanatics.com), which I think is no longer around. I'll try to post better pics of it tonight as well as try and locate the original box to see who the kit manufacturer is...

Love the collection, certainly a great one! Just a little chaotic is all :p Now that you're not buying any more items, maybe you could buy some displays and organize? So cool what you have though, I would put in absorbent floors to catch the droooool.

    Hi EnzoNZ:

Below are a few close-up shots of the diorama (as close as I could get). I looked, but unfortunately, I do not have the original box that the kit came in, so I cannot provide the manufacturer's name. I do know it was a German manufacturer. The first pic is the diorama with the glass frame in place, I took the frame off for the rest of the pics to try and avoid flash glare.

This was a bare-bones, no frills kit....basically a bunch of pieces of unpainted particle board to build the box, the wood strips for the red frame (the plate glass I had to source myself), and a smattering of plastic, white metal, and resin pieces. I supplemented the diorama with a few GMP garage scene accessories, such as the air compressor, two propane canisters, and the tool chests. Everything else (air guns, white work table, jacks, tire warmers, tire warmer dolly, fire extinguisher, overhead rack with the monitor, etc.) came with the kit and had to be painted, polished, glued, etc.

I am definitely not a model craftsman, but it was not too difficult to build, even with my limited skills! I decided to make the overall scene fairly low key (white and gray) so that the Exoto ferrari model would stand out that much more. With careful planning, I would think the average model maker can build a similar diorama structure fairly easily, and use a standard picture frame as the front piece...I'm sure in the end it would be much less expensive!

Thanks, I'm definitely working on relieving the chaotic nature of the collection! The pics (not that great quality) below show the few Ikea pieces I have purchased over the years to help display some of the items. I have room for maybe one more Ikea glass cabinet (the one in the second pic)...the only good answer is to go out and buy a bigger apartment!

Thanks, unfortunately, no 1:1s in my collection...perhaps if I sold it all I could put that toward a well-used 308 GTB :)

Thanks again for posting pics of your great collection.

What is the yellow (1:12?) model?

Is this the Merikit F40 LM transkit for the Bburago F40? Did you build it (if yes, was it very difficult?) or did you buy it built?

Is that the Ikea Detolf cabinet? I'm thinking of buying 3 or 4 to get my models organized.

    Thanks.

Thanks, that yellow model is a 1/12th Revell GTO. The sister car, #24, is on the other side of the table. I also have the #47 green/yellow Revell 1/12th GTO. I think there are only 4 GTOs in Revell's GTO diecast 1/12th series, and the 4th, the red one, I don't have :(

The Burago F40 is a car I built from one of the Bburago "kits". I kit bashed (with artistic license) a lot of pieces from other sources (not from the Merikit transkit, I have never tried one). It's not finished yet as not all the decals have been installed, and I'm not too happy with the interpretation of the rear wing I crafted. I pretty much stopped because I was not happy with the quality of the decals, the carrier film material became noticeably cloudy after the decals had long dried (I'm tempted to just remove the decals and leave it as a "prototype"). For the white wheels and tires, I used the wheels and tires from a Hot Wheels 333sp Ferrari. Not exactly the proper LM wheel, but very close.

Yes, that is the Detolf cabinet! Very economical in price, but it does let some, slight amount of dust through...I do some light dusting every two-three weeks or so...don't let that stop you as I don't think there is a better bargain out there. I'm going to buy another one in a month or so.

    Thanks!

BTW - if you have time, I would really like some close ups of the F40 LM (even though it didn't turn out as you hoped). A quality 1:18 F40 LM has been an endless quest for me and a lot of other FChatters.

BTW2 - I know you have better things to do than take special request pics of your collection :), but as you can see, we're all very impressed and curious.
