Nice pics, seeing that car brings back some memories. :)

Who is in the CS, doesn't look like you scud?

14 CS's in Australia from what I recall, and price is in the $450-500K range - although 348CH could get you one for $300K. :D

Read the "F430 Ordered" thread to get details on scuds F430. ;)

had a great time in the pax seat with Scud steering the CS around QR is about a 1:25-30 and was super impressed with the brakes considering how hard that track is on brakes.

My poor old GT4 use to run out of brakes after 4-5 laps and 355s would run out in roughly the same amount of laps (one even caught fire at one trackday there!!) but the CS brakes were perfect!! No fad, no gassing, totally stable and consistent and the stopping power was brilliant, full pedal pressure at the 100 metre mark every lap and the car almost comes to a halt 20 metres before the corner and my guess of the speed would have been 190-210 but could easily have been more but I was watching the looming Porker brigade as we closed on them.

Roger was driving very smooth but not over the top probably in deference to my first time back at the track since last years trouble , thanks Roger, you need to go deeper next time as I think the car has a lot left in it , a video of a few laps would show the early braking dropping you some time as those brakes, matched with some Hoosiers would be good for very late braking.

The sound of that car is incredible and absolutely drowns out everything else.

Also, considering how quick it is, it still felt very much like the GT4 for twitchiness near the limit with the ability to start spinning in the blink of an eye but you caught it nicely each time the back end stepped out after the heavy braking into turn 3.

The double apexes on turns 4 and 5 are definitely smoother in 3rd than 2nd which launches the car but leaves you open to making little power mistakes and mid-engine cars get very twitchy when you start trying to correct those little mistakes.

All in all a great car but you are right, those Porsches were more stable than the CS :(

Thanks for the ride , had a great time and wasn't even scared the slightest (great compliment as I've been terrified every other time I've been in the pax seat on a track :D)

the car seems to be unsettled by heavy braking followed by rough track surface, not to any high degree but the Porsches going through the same corners were rock steady and the CS had a sort of yawing movement which if you were in an actual race would make it easy for you to spin if you had to change direction quickly.

It had the same feeling that the GT4 would give me just before it would spin so this is all subjective but as you've done enough mid-engine near the limit driving you would know the feeling these cars give, although the 355 I went around the track in never gave me that feeling and it spun with none of those signals and Waggers who was driving was driving the same lines all the time almost like a metronome and it came unstuck after about 5 laps.

The one thing I didn't like was the rev limiter, it is disconcerting at critical times , like when you are trying to take a double apex and it is one of those low rev third gear or high second gear turns where second gear is better for car control but third is smoother but marginally slower. The limiter will kick in just at the point of the most critical part of the turn.

It is a beautifully balance car though and when it gets out of shape Roger got it back very quickly whereas the Porsches looked more clumsy when it happened to them but then that could all be just driver ability.

Scud reckons he has a lot of work to do on the car before it is right and is determined to make it into a better car but I think it comes down to the tyres again and maybe less abrupt direction changes to reduce the yaing sensation

danny works for ferrari down the coast and is always happy to drive the car to the track for me as i took the GT3 as well. i lost the GT3 into turn 4 with cam (jim501) in the passenger seat and as a result of going in reverse at high speed i blew the manifold off which meant no go and no brakes. the GT3 is parked in a garage at QR and the tow truck will take it to my porsche mechanic tomorrow , no major damage. i needed a lift home and bob hamilton ( great bloke)let me drive his M3R , thats me on the road heading back from the track

damn, sorry I didn't stick around to see the action :D

that is a tricky corner to set the car up for as that is the start of the double apex, the CS ALWAYS looked good and settled for that section and I thought you took some good lines in the CS (I have had trouble sorting that one out)

Did you have the ignomy of getting towed off the track or you just limped back to the pits ??

Hey John, when i was out with Rog, he seemed to be braking later and later every lap, for sure he was well past the 100 marker when braking on the last few laps anyways. Apparantly when he was out with Dan the first time in the 3, he was low 1min 21's with Dan in, whereas earlier he was doing that solo!

Rog, thanks again for the invite and the laps, hope to grab the passengers seat in the 3 next time...

I wasnt sure who you were, there were three fellas standing next to the CS, was going to introduce myself and say hello, but didnt for some stupid reason...doh...I was in my bros blue e36 M3, i had my head out the window taking the pics of the M3R on the freeway. :)

If anyone wants the originals, just drop me an email at [email protected], will be happy to send them out, (they are roughly 3mb each).

Perhaps a bit more toe-in would improve the directional stability. Also slowing the weight transfer forward by stiffening the rear rebound / front bump settings might help under braking.

Did it seem like the car was getting loose at the rear, or was the front tramlining, or both?

    Penny for your thoughts, guys.

you did say to me that it was your first time back on a track after the crash and first time you had a helmet on after the crash etc. last thing i needed was to get it pear shaped and you having flash backs :D . wish i could of taken you out in the GT3 . ask cam if i was on it . a much better balanced car that lets you know whats going on and gives you confidence to push harder.

and I appreciated the thought :D

I strangely felt very secure in the CS, I'm normally terrified as a pax , and that was before the accident !!

I have a bad memory of a VW burning many years ago and Porkers always make me remember it, a very sad tale where mother and child died.

Then a few years later I see a guy stop his whale tail in Kent St Sydney to run in and get something from a shop and the car burst into flames while he was in there !!!

Not normal I know but things like that make me hesitant about getting into Porkers

Mind you, I think one of the Qld FCA boys had a CV burst into flames on their 355 many years ago, the track will show the weakness in any car

Well well well, I told him he had to try and scare me but still failed. bwahaahaahaa.
Top afternoon. That CS sounds absolutely amazing with the cats off. I have got a video on my phone so I will have to get it on the pc some how. Every time it went past the pit wall, even if I couldn't see it) a grin breaks across your face as you can imagine Scud's manic grin flying down the straight. I'll have to jump in for a lap in that next time.
Well as for the GT3.... I turned up just before the briefing for the passenger rides and they say that they only want the drivers going at about 80% I thought well that should still be good. But as I jump in the GT3 Scuds says 'grab the lap timer we'll see what we can do'. There goes the 80% rule. We started with a couple of mid 1.22 laps and then he pulls out a 1.21.69 and I say, you can get this 1.20. Coming down the back straight he had been breaking at the 200 marker on the other laps this time he waits till just before the 100 to start. We come round turn 3 with a bit of drift and hammer towards turn 4. A bit deeper into this corner and I can feel the rear coming out and Scud going 's*%t' and around we go. Cabin fills with dust as we had the windows down a bit for the lap timer etc, before we pull back on to the track. Top fun.
A great day pity that the GT3 didn't like it and had to be carried out of the pits. I hope it isn't too bad Scud.
Sould I mention the little drag down the back straight? hehehe (G 1 CS 0)
