Hi guys, I am hoping to be able to order my 458 Italia soon so I have a few questions about options.

In my current Corvette, my seat will move back automatically when I open the door and then return to the original setting when I get in so I have no problem getting in and out which is nice. Does the 458 have this function if I pick the full electric seat option? I just don't want to keep moving my seat back and forth every time I get in and out. It would so easy if I could just choose the sport seat with full electric option however this is not allowed so this is the reason to ask how easy to get in and out of the 458 without moving the seat?

Also Which option would allow the side mirror to fold out of the way?

    Thanks

I have the fully electric seats and no...the seat does not go back automatically. You can reach down at move the seat back before getting in. The racing seats would need to be moved manually. You hold onto the steering wheel and go over the side buttress and then onto the seat. A bit clumsy but effective.

Does the full electric seat have multiple seat memory? If it does then I can program one for my driving position and a 2nd one for fully back position. This way, I can just push the memory button to have the seat go back completely for easy exit and then push the 2nd memory button to return to my driving position.

Can you retract the side mirrors for easy parking?

Power side mirrors can be electrically retracted by rotating the switch to 6 o'clock position. My wife finds that very helpful when pulling into the garage, at least until she gets a sense of the width of the car. Of course, we need them open to back out again....

Our other cars have full electrics and memory; frankly we find it's just easier to use the fore/aft controller than the memory. Only reason for electrics was to get the heated seats...

Is the option for retracting the side mirrors listed or is it only available with full electric seat? I think I might now consider the sport seats since if I need to move the seat back and forth, I might as well do it manually. Thanks

The seat does not automatically slide upon opening the door. Another 20 years before Ferrari implements that. Be grateful for cruise control! The passenger mirror swivels downward upon reversing with the full electric seats. Seat heaters are also included with the "full" electrics. I have the race seats, which are just awesome. Frankly, I do not miss the electric seat controls at all.

OK, so if I choose the sport seats then I will not have the electric swivel option on the side mirror. Can the mirror then be folded out of the way manually?

The mirrors will fold in with the mirror controls. It is not possible to swivel the mirror downward automatically upon reversing. Naturally, one may do that manually with the electric mirror controls. I inquired if the swiveling may be programmed with the race seats and I was told no.

Just to make sure I understand, the electric side mirror folding is standard on the 458? If that is correct then I will order the sport seats.

the owner's manual for my '13 458 states electrically folding side mirrors are an option.
my 458 side mirrors do NOT fold electrically.
by the way, i have sport seats.
if i had known the folding mirror option existed, i would have ordered it on my vehicle.

    Stunned....

Are you that physically challenged that you need your world class sports car to "ease" your entry into it? Good grief - if you are concerned about exercising a bit of muscle and otherwise having to put effort into the experience of driving clearly one of the best cars on the planet, I suggest you stick to the GM brand and go from Corvette to Cadillac or Buick. You need a sofa vs a sports car.

What a pampered view of life.

FWIW on our 2012 coupe we have racing seats, no electric seats....power mirrors are standard OR somehow are bundled with electrochromic mirror option OR was a factory mistake. I believe standard...

In the 458 You can slide the seat back to get in and out. It's easy...no need for electrics, my wife and I adjust seat and buckle up while car is booting up or warming up, same with BMW

FF we use memory but never have to change for ingress/egress

Our GMC Denali has the "entry assist" seat adjustment setting and we keep it off, it's annoying and unnecessary

Wow, that's harsh. I'm far from physically challenged (in fact 10% body fat, gym 6 days a week... :D) but I still find that option useful. When you drive your car everyday, you very often find that some idiot parks to the drivers door so close that you have to become almost liquid to squeeze through. I don't know, maybe it is not an issue in the US but in the UK people who came up with a size of the parking spaces deserve to be punched in the face. My point is that in case your car is a daily-driver this is a handy option no matter what kind of physical shape you are in. And anyway, why so much hate? ;)

My dealer told me you have to order the electrochromatic mirrors to get the electric folding. I was going to just order the interior electrochromatic, but I believe he said you had to order both interior and exterior for electric folding, so I ended up ordering both.

Just to let you know that having the seat move back is not just being lazy. I have found that there are less wear and tear on the seat if I don't need to slide in and out thus rubbing on the seat.

Not sure why you even bother posting since you don't offer any information at all except for your useless opinion.

Sure - I will take that the comment is harsh. Still, I am STUNNED that this is so important to start a unique thread regarding the decision to buy one of the best cars on the planet.

Full regrets for the comment, but zero regrets of the stunned reaction after reading this site for two years for all those that want this car, ordered it, WAITED, and now have it. Maybe there are too many F458s available.

I guess that I fit that category. Ordered 458, waited 13 months and enjoy the heck out of it. I have learned a great deal here on Fchat from those who are truly generous with their knowledge. I can understand the frustration when questions appear trivial. I guess I prefer not to answer those and just move on to the next subject. Not preaching, just giving my perspective.
