4280 is almost ready (finally!!) for paint. So some questions. See pictures below. Is the gas cap painted black and does it have a badge attached? I cannot remember where the bumper grommets go. Against the body or on the tubes that sticks out from the body. What color are the brackets? Color tubes? Is the hose clamp on the radiator hose correct for all hoses and the one on the small hose incorrect? Is the large aluminum cover plate correct (first picture)? To answer your questions: 1. The gas cap should be yellow zinc plated with a black plastic ring. Yours looks to be correct but someone has drilled a hole in it so you will have to repair it or find another. It has no badge but many people replace them for newer caps as the threads have not changed in 30 years 2. Grommets go against the body. On later cars like yours the tubes and brackets go black. On earlier cars the tubes go body colour and the brackets go black. 3. Hose clamps look correct. Look for the brand 'serflex' written on the body where the screw goes into. 4. First picture seems ok but I would confirm with other sources.
I am not sure about the yellow zinc plating. The gas cap on my two Dinos (GT and GTS) all looked like plain stainless, no plating. I am looking for a plastic ring for an extra cap that I have. Anyone have a source for the ring? Thanks - Mark
The yellow zinc plating I am very sure about. This is the same gas cap as used in early 308's. Verrel @ unobtanium supply makes replacement plastic rings if you need one.
Yes that's the correct cap, (as my cars) but someone did not realize it's a "Non Vented" system. Of course, it IS vented, but NOT thru the cap!! Easily fixed. Yellow cadmium plating as I recall but as mine wore, flat black.
