This is ridiculous. Not true at all. Look at stock markets all over the world now. They are plunging down like hell. Not to mention gold and crude price as w(h)ell :(

I am sure there are quite a few Ferrari owners that let their money work for them......but I am not one of them.
I find that one of the best stress relievers and enjoyment comes from owning and driving my F-cars.
I don't have investment income that helps pay for my cars; it has come from close to 30 years of working in my construction business and saving my hard earned money.
I trust the money that I have, in my control; because if I entrust it to someone else, then I expect them to be accountable & responsible for it........not realistic in my values and beliefs, so I have only myself to look at in the mirror.
I used to live to work, but now I work to live and enjoy every day that I can.
I am not wealthy by any means(financially), but I am comfortable and very content.:)

    Kenny,

What you say about the Markets is true but there are many different ways to invest so I have to disagree with your initial statement.

I don't care if the markets go up or down. If you know what you're doing you can still make money either way, and lots of it!

I retired when I was 37 and that was 30 years ago. Ever since then(and before) I have made my money work for me.

I've developed much respect for the general personal savy of many of the well established posters on here. The average level of income, education, and business ownership is perhaps higher than average. However, to make a quantum leap from a relatively isolated demographic such as Ferrari ownership to world markets is simply ludicrous.

It's almost as if you are indicting them for the fact that you 'happen' to think that world markets aren't doing well, which itself is a questionable assertion, but you seem to be upset about that. How would you relate this to owning a Ferrari? All things Ferrari are doing quite well at this point, though some would say prices for certain models are off.

Looks to me, sir, that you are inviting dissention. You will surely get it, though not in the way you might have expected. Accompanying that personal savy and Ferrari ownership is likewise a resplendant excess of what is often referred to as...."class." Wikipedia is perhaps a good starting point, and membership is free.

There are other ways to make money that don't involve the stock market and are legal etc. If you're working for the man and putting in your hours then you are working for money. If you are successfully investing, leveraging your time and getting paid while you sleep, then money is working for you.

I've invested heavily in the stock market (single stocks, managing my own account) over the past 10 years, and the last few years, even with the down market, have been my best years ever.

I thank God that I was blessed to be one of those that allows his/her money to work for me while I hold down a day job...but it did come from a few years of hard work and dedication, not to mention some lucky business decisions at the right time and place.

I think you hastily made this post before thinking it out. If your money is invested in equities and sitting doing nothing yes, you're probably in the hole now. If you know how to play options and derivatives you could be making money. Also, trading commodities can be rewarding.
