Im with drdoug. good job buddy
I just realized i was on the wrong forum when i responded. i recently picked up a lotus to keep the 360 company so i spend a little time on that forum. I enjoy chatting with the early twenties kids who have lots of testosterone overly macho and have a very skewed vision of what life can bring .. Sorry i guess somehow the links got crossed . By the way that why they invented 911 . You won nothing and proved nothing all you did was endanger yourself and your daughter . ive always believed dont pull a gun or confromt someone unless you intend to use the weapon or take a life and I have had to hold several at gunpoint until police arrived . and this was in Beverly Hills. Just a different outlook and value on life
Having a ferrari is rubbing your wealth in the face of others, suprised it does not happen more often to be honest. To a lot of people it is like saying kiss my ass pauper, I can drive a car round that costs mroe than your house. Not saying it is right but I can see how it makes less fortunate people frustrated.
it is very unfortunate that people allow themselves to be soo green (with envy). Life is too short to envy others, it truly is. EVERY one of us needs to be thankful every day we wake up and are allowed to be on this earth. Some work VERY hard to be able to afford toys like an exotic, some I must admit have them handed to them because of "old money" or some sort of "sham" that got them rich, but not everyone can be grouped together and that is where I think the problem lies. I for one did not grow up with money, more a lack of it, but I had my mind and focus on things in life that I wanted to achieve, and I did it on my own, without stepping on anyone in the process, but I can see from all the times I have been pulled over doing the speed limit that there is interest in why someone that looks young as I do (I look younger than I actually am) is driving such an expensive and highly modified exotic (about 45k in mods on my car). Once they talk to me a bit they realize who I am and that I'm not just some ass that was handed my car, and I have made them smile by the time our conversation was over. I really feel especially now days people are more frustrated than ever with this failing economy and our cars are just another sign of the wealth split. I now drive my truck around more than any of my cars for this very reason.
I'm only a college student and am nowhere near being able to afford a Ferrari, but I completely disagree with what you said. One thing I can say is that I truly am a car lover (especially Ferraris), and when I see someone driving a Ferrari I like to think that maybe they just understand true beauty and master craftsmanship as much as I do. It's ridiculous to be frustrated with people who are more fortunate than you are. Chances are that they worked hard for what they have, and though some people may be jealous; it should always be surprising and appalling when people are so blatantly disrespectful.
How absolutely wrong, I have owned 5 ferraris now and it never crossed my mind to even think "kiss my ass pauper" when i take them for a drive I hope that joe public enjoys seeing something that someone else loves and enjoys, just like when I see a bikie on a harley they may look like grubs but we both have something in common and often I get a thumbs up from the most unlikely of roughies. I think bad attitude is bred into peolple by parents who do not teach them respect.
Horrible. I came home last night and found a cigarette butt flicked onto the back of my spyder. People are scum.
Yeah but that is you. Imagine some guy who has to dig ditches for a living for mininum wage who barely makes enough to get by. Then you ( imaginatively) drive by his ass with your shades on, the top down and some cliched pringle jumper draped over your shoulders. he can think a) wow I wish that was me b) indifference c) look at that flash ass. You never know how people are going to react. A ferrari is a pretty extreme status symbol whether you like it or not it is going to rub some people up the wrong way.
So what you're saying is that, one makes the effort to do well in school, go to University, graduates, get a good job, earn tonnes of money a year, but because owning anything nice is an insult to those who can't afford nice things as well because they didn't bother to work hard, get a good job, they have to live on bread and water? I fail to see your logic. If I worked hard to afford a Ferrari and if I want a Ferrari, I bloody have a Ferrari. Doesn't mean that I'm hoisting a flag saying "Up yours, poor people". That bloke there digs ditches for minimum wage, but because he'd gone to Lisa's, Jessica's and Mary-Ann's parties back in High-School, he dropped out. Ferrari owners' fault? Hmmm?
No, I am saying it is a form of conspicious consumption. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspicuous_consumption Have a read about it, you might even understand some more about yourself and what makes you purchase things.
I do know about conspicuous consumption, thank you very much. But I hardly agree. Enjoying the fruits of one's labour isn't rubbing the nose of others' in anything.
Are you sure it was spit? I've had a bird crap in my car, while the top was down... If I wasn't in the car when it happened, I would have assumed it was a loogie from a jealous hater. I've had a few birds hit my interior over the years. (I hate opening/closing the top everytime I park when I do the dumb little errands on weekends....so I leave it open...which invites birds, and haters.) I've learned that bird crap comes in a variety of textures and colors. The starlings on the side of my house, drop **** that look like the loogies on lockers from the 9th grade.
I went to a church picnic last Sunday afternoon, it was a real nice afternoon so we drove the Ferrari. I got there early to find a safe parking place, I was a little concerned about parking it close to anyone there, some are a little thin between the ears!. Later in the afternoon I noticed a someone in a Ford pickup had parked way to close to my right side. The more I thought about it the more I wanted to move the car or just leave. I decided it would be easier to just leave before the truck did. As the picnic was breaking up, I noticed a couple walking over to their truck with arm loads of chairs and blankets. I ran over to the car, got in, started the engine, and as I got the car in reverse, I heard a thud on my passenger door! I just couldn't f--ing believe it. The truck driver had climbed in his truck and banged his door on my car, I quickly hung my head out the right door looking for a mark and mentioned at the same time, 'you just banged into my car'. The truck driver muttered "doesn't look like I damaged anything". If I hadn't been at a church function......my reaction would have been very different. Fortunately there was no damage. My wife says he did apologize, but I never heard it.
I was thinking more in the area of getting on some old farm tractor there and putting a rusty crease down the side of his new pearl white Ford truck.
