Had my 355 destickied about 3 years ago by SNM .....job was done well but I have noticed something strange.....

One of the A/C dials has its little white marker line starting to peel off and looking closely I see that all 3 dials have a sticky backed plastic white line attached....the main problem is that when I turn the lights on the marker line does not illuminate...the sticky piece stops the green light showing through or the dial has been filled in stopping the light appearing.

Has anyone else got the same problem with their SNM job?
Those 3 dials should have their marker lines illuminated green when the lights are on....so you can see the position of the dial.

If this is the case SNM should have used a translucent white paint for the marker lines instead.

There is a "NEW" HVAC Dashboard Panel being developed and the first one is being done for an FChat member as we speak.....once he gets it back he will most likely do a review.

The O.P. is referring to the dials, not the HVAC dashboard Panel (which is already available from Ricambi)

Ferrari Parts : 355 HVAC Panel - CELSIUS : Ricambi America

    (available both f & c)

I installed this panel a few years ago when I de-stickied my interior....no issues.

I stripped my knobs down to black plastic, and then re-rubberized them by spraying clear Plasti-Dip on them. I can't remember for sure if I shot Plasti-Dip primer first, but I think I did, because the knobs never peeled during the next 3.5 years or so.

I also shot the whole replacement control panel sticker in clear Plasti-Dip because I liked the OEM rubbery feel. It did make the parts prone to permanent white marks if I accidentally poked one of the knobs or the panel with a fingernail. So it wasn't as perfect a solution as shooting the formerly sticky bits with Plasti-Dip primer followed by black Plasti-Dip spray.

I'm talking about the 3 dials only....not the HVAC panel which is fine.
Their white line should illuminate green when lights are on.
Mine do not because something was not done correctly when they were destickied.
Anyone else notice this with their SNM refinished dials?

Had a look at my dials.....the white line is opaque plastic and not painted.
Can you remove the white plastic coating SNM put on the white line with out damaging the overall finish?

yeah that was my first thought is the tape the OP is noticing simply the "masking" SNM used to protect the translucent plastic during the refinish/spray process and simply did not get removed before sending back.

    No
    Not masking tape
Even with the snm tape removed there is no green light

I reckon he painted over the green led that's inside each dial

    Not happy

    I'm going to fix it.
Heads up to other SNM clients...better request they do not paint over the white line on the 3 HVAC dials.

I replaced the painted over green plastic blocks in each dial with oem ones from a spare panel.....they just pull out, push in.l..

Now I have green dial line markers at night and the oem white line in the day....as the factory intended!

you would hope that SNM would be aware of this.....you only have to look at the knob to know it is a lighted part....but good advice.
