Good value, or am I better off lighting a hundred dollar bill on fire?

I have one as well. I even upgraded to the newer model. Great toothbrush But very hard to keep clean. I find myself using both manual and sonicare toothbrush
it takes more time to clean the bloody thing than it does to use it. otherwise GREAT toothbrush. you get that squeeky clean just from the dentist feel.
You know, I have been thinking about buying one, as one of my greatest fears is having worse teeth than I already do. My mom bought one a while ago but she bought the one with two soniccare brushes but only one charging station. I don't need one of those so it was taken back. I think I am going to buy one today.
I've had one for about 4 years. The first time I got a cleaning was after about 6 months of use and the lady congratulated me for flossing everyday. When I told her I didn't, she asked if I brushed with the Sonicare. It gets a week or so to get used to but it works great. Both Judith and I will upgrade to the new one as soon as feasable.
Yup. worth it. I still have a toothbrush for times when I feel it just doesn't cut it. But for the most part, I've always dug my sonicare. it stays charged for qutie a while. I don't even worry about it if I'm out of town for 7-10 days.
I have to give it a thumbs-up as well. I threw out my manual brush and went to the sonicare full-time for a few months just to see if there would be a difference. My last appointment went off without a hitch, my gums finally settled down and I didn't catch any flak for not flossing (side note on that, how many people have the time to floss 3-4 times a day?) C.
Is this the thing or is there some other model that is the good one? Thats the one my wife bought me (maybe she was hinting!!), it is superb, I know its just a toothbrush but it does the job better than any other

We have a Braun/oral B Professional Care 7000. It is a circular spinning brush which leaves teeth feeling very polished - if I travel and use a regular brush I feel dissatisfied now. Sonicare ROCKS. I agree with previous posters. 99% of gadgets fail to live up to their claims but this is not one of them. You get a feeling of clean that surpasses any other kind of toothbrush, and I have used them all, including rotating bristles and every kind of funky toothbrush out there. If you guys want the ultimate - get a Teledyne Waterpik. It's a billion times easier than flossing, gets crap out of your teeth you never knew was there, and if you mix a few capfuls of listerine and fill it with lukewarm water, you will be cleaner than ever before Follow that up with the Sonicare adn you'll be stylin'. Sonicare is worth every penny!
So I went and got one... It's definitely going to take some getting used to. But if I never have to hear the hygenist ask me why I'm not flossing, that's worth the hundred dollars!!! It was the dentist's staff that recommended it first, but sounds like others here have had good results. I've used it a few times and it sounds like the tornado/air raid sirens in my neighborhood, and it does tickle the roof of your mouth and your lip!!! And the toothpaste doesn't stay on the brush if you turn it on before you put it in your mouth!
Well Dave.......I hope you are happy. I guess I am going to get one now. My dentist told me the same thing. Where did you wind up buying one and which model did you buy? How bout them Red Raiders?
It's simply a brush with the bristles that oscillate back and forth very rapidly. Depending on the model, I think it's around 30,000 strokes per minutes (I'm stating from memory, so don't quote me). It's also got a timer that beeps every 30 seconds or so that signals to the user to change areas. Additionally, they have an intro phase that slowly ramps up the oscillation over the first few times one uses it. Oral B has been competing against it for years, and although the Oral B products are good, the Sonicare products are great. Then again, the more people that use it, the less work I will have, so I'd advise you all to go back to manual toothbrushes and rinse with Pepsi.
The only downside I found to the Sonicare is that it makes your toothpaste into a mushy goop instead of a foamy frothy mixture. With the lack of scrubbing motion and the vibration, the bubbles "melt". Anyone found a toothpaste that doesn't do that?
We bought our first one about five years ago. Upgraded twice and now use the smaller headed one. It seems to get into some of the deeper recesses of the mouth easier. Our dentist gave us one about three years ago. She knew we use one and were about to upgrade so she gave us the newest one. Must have been a reps sample for her to do that.
