Superunknown is their best album closely followed by BADMOTORFINGER

if you listen to any rock radio at all, you will recognize most of the songs.

I also suggest any stone temple pilots and alice in chains and nirvana cds

I agree 100%. If you're into grunge definately check out Alice In Chains. If you're not into the heavy stuff check out their Unplugged album...my mom heard a tidbit when she was moving my old truck around one time and said I really like that band your listening to. And she hates Rock. But also STP and Nirvana's Unplugged cd's are great.

    They are ALL great!

Badmoto, SuperUnk, DOWN ON THE UPSIDE

But...I am a diehard Chris Cornell fan and have to say that Audioslave(Cornell plus Rage members) is the best rock going right now. Check out their first album, it is self titled.

In fact, I am going all the way to Oklahoma City this weekend to check them out!

Then click 'community', then you can access the message board!
    Next, www.jeffgarden.com so cool

Trust in the first Audioslave CD, it doesn't disappoint. But get those SG albums too, :D

Oh, one other album that is an absolute MUST

    TEMPLE OF THE DOG

This CD was a collaboration between Cornell and members of Pearl Jam. It was recorded right before Pearl Jam Ten came out and is very very good. Ask around, its classic!

In fact, maybe even get this CD and Superunknown as a start.

Also, someone snuck in a video camera to this particular show.

Here is an 11sec long clip just to get an idea. They only got 49min of video, but I hope to DL the rest.

"Set it Off" from Audioslave's self titled debut album. If his voice doesn't scream ROCK I don't know what does. Apparently he quit smoking last May and has regained some upper range and strength. Listen for yourself!

Why not go onto a site like Amazon and listen to the sound clips and then you'll have a pretty good idea what the album will sound like?

Alternatively, purchase the songs you want individually for 99 cents each and create your own Best Of CD. The reason I go this route is twofold, first most albums waste 12~20 minutes of space on the CD recording surface, and secondly, most "great" albums have three good songs, three fair songs and then filler. Instead of paying $16.00 for the three songs you eally wanted, buy them for $2.97. Let's say the CD blank costs $1.00, that leaves us 15 songs to purchase, of our choosing, for the same outlay. You not only get more music, but your selection is more personalized and the order of songs is at your discretion.

    bump!

New Audioslave CD to come out September 5th. Supposed to be heavier than their 2nd album. Also, Michael Mann used 2 of their new songs in Miami Vice.

New video out for first single, "Original Fire" can be seen here:
    http://music.yahoo.com/promos/premieres/

Other interesting tidbits include Chris Cornell writing and performing the new Bond theme for Casino Royale. It is a solo effort. The only other people to ever write AND perform a Bond song are Madonna and Sir Paul McCartney.

And speaking of solo effort, Cornell is about to begin recording a second solo album. Mostly acoustic in nature.

    Lots of cool things!

Anyone interested in hearing how they sound live simply type in Audioslave on a youtube or google video search.

So, did you get that album? ;)

Audioslave played their longest concert in Cuba and I saw parts on t.v. Do you or anyone else know if there is a video of this out there for sale?

The concert was over 2.5 hours, but the stupid DVD they have cuts out lots of songs. Why they cut songs I don't know. They also had some odd editing. The camera would switch to one far away showing the whole crowd, but if you look closely, you can see it was from a different time in the concert.

Also, the last song they play, Cochise, had an editing trick played on it. When the song begins the footage is chopped to try and make it look like the crowd recognized the song, which didn't happen in real life.

Is that a big deal? Not really. Just odd.

There are two versions of the DVD, the deluxe version comes with a CD that has some live performances from AOL music. But you can see those performances by going to AOL music. To see all of the videos they have you can click on a tab that says something literally like, "more videos"

The DVD isn't too bad. In fact, I saw them play in Atlanta just days before they went to Cuba.

But Cornell's best vocals were on their most recent tour. Every once in awhile you can find a bootleg DVD of their performance at Madison Square Garden. This is the one to find. Check Ebay. I have a copy, but no burner.

Basically their 2003 tour was weakest vocally, then the first 2005 tour, but the last go around was superb. Probably because in 2003 Cornell was still drinking and smoking. Then at first half of 2005 he hadn't had a drink in a couple of years, and finally in late 2005 he quit smoking as well. The combo really helped his voice.

Here is a link to them perfoming Outshined in Cuba(interestingly Cornell was coming down with the Flu at the time, but they still played 2.5 hours): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yv7OHAnlH9A

Here is a link to them performing Hunger Strike on the last tour. As you can tell the quality of performance is pretty darn good! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3409078718051848771&q=audioslave+hunger

Link to Shadow on the Sun, live in Cuba: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt3d_rsBql4
But like I said, do searches on YouTube and Google. You will see some cool things. Call me a Dog acoustic is great. If you can find it, their performance of Exploader in Philly 2003 is worth checking out for sure.

Lastly, the first time they played as a band in front of a crowd was on the Letterman marque. Type Audioslave Letterman when searching. The performance of Gasoline and Set it Off is phenomenal. Studio like vocals
Enjoy and let me know what you think!

And btw, I guess you could say I am a fan(and apparently Ozzy too, he said Cornell is is favorite vocalist), lol

    Thanks a lot John.

Just saw "Outshined" from the link and damn castro and che guevara to hell (no caps on their names). Cuba wants to come out and rock and this bastard has kept them in the dark for so long. At least he did one thing right and had guevara killed, one less sadistic pig in the world. I hope good bands come out from Cuba when the regime dies along with infidel castro.
